LETS GO AFTER THOSE THAT HIRE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
3/28/06 | BOB HARAN

Posted on 03/29/2006 1:59:58 AM PST by Bob Haran

By Bob Haran; The recent marches in opposition to Rep. James Sensenbrener’s bill, H.R. 4437, that would make it a felony to be in the country illegally, has raised a question in my mind.

Why don't we make the people responsible for causing people to enter our country illegally, felons? Congress should amend H.R. 4437 and instead of making it a felony to be in the country illegally, make it a felony to illegally hire someone in the country illegally. To make people who are for the most part, law abiding, into felons, is ludicrous. Why does our government refuse to go after the real law breakers, the employers that illegally hire and profit from using undocumented workers?

Let's enforce all our immigration laws.

I mentioned Ohio, that happens to be where I live, and where I live is where I see the welfare travesty and it's typical of the whole nation. And this keeps people from doing jobs that are waiting here for the illegal alens. It's on topic, whether you understand this or not.

People that are too proud to do this work are never too proud too scam the welfare system. Why should they work? They don't have to!

You could suggest it, but I know it is not true. There are not 10-20 healthy American youth out there that are willing and able to do these tough physical jobs at any price. Like it or not, without illegals most of these jobs would not get done. Lousiana will not get rebuilt without the help of immigrants.

BS. You act like Americans are the most helpless bunch of screwups on the planet. We run this joint, remember? We can certainly rebuild anything worth rebuilding- which is the real underlying point- is rebuilding an underwater city worth doing? This New Orleans rebuilding is the most expensive pandering project I've ever witnessed.

If the market weren't skewed and jacked up by artificially cheap labor, I doubt any smart investor would do it. But, nooooo, we have the geniuses in DC deciding for us.

It's really long past time for you to get a new screen name.

I'd suggest Never Right or Always Wrong. Either would be closer to the truth.

I do not advocate any type of open borders, I simply state the obvious, in fact I support the Minuteman project financially. I simply want to know who will you get to do the work the illegals do? Many of the employers cannot afford to pay much more than the minimum wage, so who will they hire? Our kids have no work ethic any more, they would rather cruise the streets listening to music on huge stereos in cars mom and dad paid for than go to work. If you can find someone who will work, they have no pride in what they do. My dad taught me to be the very best at whatever it is I am doing whether it would be a dish washer or a brain surgeon. Until we start solving some of our domestic (read that to be family) issues the immigrant issue will continue to be with us.

Ruh roh, you went against the twitch of the nose and everything is solved caucus on FR.

Didn't you know that throwing Farmer Joe in the can for hiring someone to pick oranges on his property will solve everything, you FROBL.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Ohio is simply not typical of the whole nation. You have some unique situations there ~ e.g. Cleveland, Youngstown, etc.

Our welfare rolls in Virginia are far lower ~ in fact, all your state welfare people have to do to remove the cheats is run "Move Update" against their mailing/address lists for recipients. Federal laws existing since the days of Franklin Roosevelt provide that if a welfare recipient has a change of address on file they get cut off until they are re-examined by a welfare case worker.

Clue ~ welfare cheats ALWAYS have a change of address on file with the post office. It helps them cheat!

I don't believe Ohio has done this yet although everybody else did it first in 1997.

Why not target our elected officials who have chosen to look the other way for so long?

Interestingly, passing the FairTax would fix a lot of the economic effects of the illegal invasion. But Always Right doesn't like that idea either.

We get the people who have normally done those type of jobs since the USA began: the recently arrived LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who come to America to start their dream.

I am an I.T. worker who supplements his income nicely by doing painting, tile, and exterior trim work on the weekends. Homeowners don't mind paying an extra %20 over what the illegals charge for someone they can communicate with.

Dane, if Farmer Joe is a cheapskate, he should not be encouraged to continue subverting America's capitalist system by reinstituting a former of economic slavery.

Instead, Farmer Joe should be put out of business so that Farmer Bob can bring in an orange picking machine!

Did you not know there are millions of Americans just dying to pick fruit and bus tables in this country...

Correct. There are millions of recently arrived LEGAL immigrants, all of whom have obtained their green card visa and are on their way to becoming a LEGAL, PRODUCTIVE American citizen as soon as they fulfill their 'probation' period and then take the oath of citizenship.

But to simply reward those who've broken the Prime Directive by jumping the border (in front of law abiding people) is INSANITY in the first degree.

Heck, I want to further MY family's financial well-being so maybe I can jump the Social Security or welfare system and begin taking globs of money while I continue working at my job.

Hey, what the heck. I'm just trying to put food on the table for my family, dontcha know.

Don't you realize that most every conservative on FR simply has to check your opinion on any given subject, and go 180 opposite, to figure out what's the logical way to think?

You're doing a great service.

Then I guess the great increase nationwide of people receiving government assistance must have been mostly people in Ohio.

hey, time flies, 1997 was long time ago. The beaucracies are promoting and encouraging people getting government assistance.

private citizens taking their own time and money to investigate and publish the names of the businesses who hire illegals.

Start here. Then download their flyer, make copies and send them to employers you suspect are hiring illegals.

Spoken like the central committee politburo of old.

Everything old is new again.

"exactly. we need to enforce the laws in palce. they shouldn't be hiring illegals in the first place.. jobs dry up for the illegals and they'll move somewhere else"

If the US government will not enforce the law and prevent illegals, why should an employer be forced to do it.
What hoops would you have an employer jump through in determining if someone is legal or not?

20 years ago, it was taken for granted that anyone wanting a job was an American citizen, or had a work visa.

Dry up those two wells and ...the illegals will leave on their own.

If only it were that easy.

Even if we cut off legal means to earn a living, illegals would simply join the underground economy, just like millions are already doing now.

Even as we speak, illegals are being paid cash under the table, and they are buying (non-taxed) consumer products at inner-city hock shops.

No, my friend, it will take a threat of incarceration and forced deportment IN ADDITION TO DRYING UP ILLEGAL JOBS to stop this insanity of unchecked illegal immigration.

What a great way to impose a national ID card on a people who find it reprehensible. Piss off Americans with illegal immigrants until we demand a card for 'them'. Trouble is that we'd all need to have the card.

We're at war.

Seal the borders. Stop the flow of illegals. Increase scrutiny of 'legal' immigrants and visitors. Repeal welfare for the able bodied. Punish those who hire illegals. Deport illegals after tattooing "ILLEGAL" on their forehead. Execute those who commit violent crimes.

Fire Congress if they refuse.

Not at all. We just don't have enough healthy young bodies who want to do hard labor. As I have said, we are having fewer children and those we do have are getting educated and do not want to do landscaping work. There simply are not enough young American bodies to do the work that legal and illegal immigrants are doing.

At the same time I resent your attempt to blur the distinction between "immigrants" and "illegal aliens".

THe difference between legal and illegal is arbitrary. Congress and the President could wave a wand tommorrow and make all illegals 'legal', then you would not have an arguement as they all would be legal.
