Many of you replied when I originally posted my husband's horrible hospital odyssey of several months ago.
Things were going okay in the Catholic hospital, until my husband knocked out his trach in his sleep. The alarm didn't go off. My husband can breathe on his own, and the ventilator was giving him some small support.
His heart stopped. They resuscitated him, and he's been in a twilight since. The dr. he has has given up on him - this has only been a week. My husband IS starting to respond and focus, but the dr. doesn't care.
He's pressuring me to sign a DNR, and he suddenly wants to move my husband OUT of intensive care into a regular room! I was so shocked I didn't say a thing...why does my husband now need less care than before...unless of course the dr. wants him to die.
My husband is physically VERY stable. All his signs are perfect. From what I'm reading, it can take anywhere from one to three months for someone to come out of this kind of state.
This dr. doesn't even want to give him the chance.
Granted, my husband isn't as cute as Terri Schiavo, but you guys can see where this is headed. I want to give him a CHANCE to recover. I don't care if he's impaired. I'll take care of him if they just stop trying to push me to let him die.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Are you satisfied with that explanation?
Bless you. :0)
You and your husband are in my prayers. Don't believe everything the doctors say, many have recovered after they've said they wouldn't. I worked with a lady, her daughter was raped and beaten near a university here, the doctors said she wouldn't come out of her coma, etc. After two months, she just woke up. She was fine except couldn't remember anything that had happened to her. I pray the Lord watch over you and your husband.
Bttt...
I'd sure like a positive update.
