Ask for a second opinion and explain your thoughts and concerns to another doctor.

I fail to see how cuteness plays a part in anything.

My prayers for your husband, and also for strength for you! This is a great forum, I see many jumping in to help, and God Bless each and every one of them. I will also pray their help will be just what you need!

I fail to see why you're still posting on a thread in which you've made a distasteful fool of yourself.

The lady is scared she's going to lose her husband to apathy and neglect by the doctors, you make exremely insensitive remarks about a situation you know nothing about, bore us with what you would want done in a childish attempt to make this thread about you, and now you're camping out with cheeky one liners?

When did you start targeting terrified women there, "gunner"?

Prayers for your husband from me, too.

Looks like lots of options going here. Even if this ?doctor? (some doctor) decides to back down --- still look for another. He obviously doesn't have your husbands welfare in mind and his attitude toward you is enough for dismissal. Good luck.

I'd be showing up at the hospital with a lawyer in tow, and start demanding documentation.

Dittos to that, Duke.

Speak up to the Doctor. You might want to WRITE your wishes in a statement and give it to the doctor and the head nurse on his floor.

I'd say that the most important thing is to have a doctor you can trust on top of the case. Otherwise there are too many things this guy might do when you are not present.

It might be awkward to change doctors in mid stream, because doctors tend to be clubby and don't like to poach on each other's territory. But perhaps you can get some advice on what would be the best way to have another doctor take over your husband's case. If necessary, you might contact the pro-life organizations, find out where the presiding bishop stands on this sort of issue, and consider going to the bishop and asking him to intervene in the case.

As we regretably saw in Terry Schiavo's case, some bishops simply refuse to do their jobs. They are, frankly, heretics. But there are a few solid bishops out there, and possibly the hospital may be in the diocese of a faithful bishop. If that is the case, the hospital authorities and affiliated their doctors might prefer to agree to a change of doctors rather than have you make a formal appeal to the bishop.

That's so terrible of a view?"

Everyone doesn't have your view. Most people want to LIVE!

Prayers for you and your husband.

Glenn Beck was also a very passionate and frequent voice for Terry Schiavo, and he now has a tv show, in addition to his radio show.

Someone elsewhere mentioned that you should speak to the "patient advocate" at the hospital (in case you haven't done so yet). A lot of hospitals have them.

Some doctors can be bullies. Keep fighting! We'll be thinking of you! Best wishes to your husband for a full recovery.

More on patient's rights...

New Jersey has a "Patient's Bill of Rights" at this link:

http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/bme/statreg/patientrights.htm

Please note, at the link above, which is the Office of Attorney General, if a hospital gives improper care, you can file a complaint with or call the phone number for the New Jersey Dept. of Health and Senior Services (800) 792-9770.

Also, at the link below are patient advocate organizations in NJ:

http://www.patientadvocate.org/report.php

Please note, there's a phone number provided for that Patient Advocate Foundation at the bottom of the page. It's toll-free 1-800-532-5274. I don't know anything about that organization, but maybe they can give you more info about what to do.

I happen to know a woman with a serious medical condition who has had to deal with hospitals and doctors all her life, and has had to deal with them for her children, too, two of whom contracted serious illnesses while in hospital. She had to make a lot of phone calls and do a lot of legwork. It seems, all too often, they will try to hide negligence to avoid lawsuits and/or bad publicity.

If your husband is physically stable, why not have him in a regular room? That way you can create a nice environment with some music, or spend your time there reading to him. If he's not in need of acute care, it may be that the Doc just wants the bed for someone who does. It would likely be a lot less expensive in a regular room, too, rather than in the ICU.

May God hold your husband close to Him now and guide those who care for him. May He give you peace and strength to endure this trial. May He restore him to health in His service, in Jesus' name.
