'Socialism' is a doctrine that advocates government ownership of the means of production. It says nothing, per se, about religion or a person's ''obligation'' to the State.
'Commumism' is a variant of socialism. Lenin insisted upon effectively complete control of citizen's lives, not only economically, but politically, spiritually, and even mentally.
'Fascism', just to round things out, is socialism with one minor difference: the gov't does not insist on **ownership** of the means of production, but does insist on **control** of said means.

You have a very sharp knife to split that hair into threes. Fact is the term communism was developed when people rejected socialism in the early 20s. There is no greater tyrant than a communist tyrant. Nice post though.
