It’s a wonderful article for a wonderful man. I think our country would be in excellent hands with Hunter as POTUS. There is no one I would trust more.
“No Vietnam vet has ever been president either but its no more or less likely than a congressman becoming president.”
You are correct. Also, there has never been a President who had a son or daughter who actively served during the war on terror. Don’t you find it easy to determine that a person should not be elected because there is something about them that is unique when compared to other Presidents? For example, no President had been elected before slavery was abolished until after slavery was abolished.
I will be voting based on who I most agree with on the issues, not based on who I believe can be forced down my throat.
No president had ever been elected before George Washington.
“He was needed in the House on the Armed Services committee”
Absolutely, Duncan has served his country well, first in the Army, secondly as a congressman! His resume for being the leader of the free world outshines everyone else who is running.
I take it you’re from Texas?
Writing a letter to the editor, or calling a talk show, will help get Hunter’s name out more.
Excellent post!! You’re coming around, EEE!!:)
Super excellent post!!! Perfect 10!! (in honor of Bo Derek):)
“If Hunter’s nominated he’ll attract the union and old Reagan Democrats”
Agree with you again! Needs repeating.
>>>Running Duncan Hunter against Hillary Clinton gives the electorate that choice. Nominating Frudy McRomney gives the electorate a choice between two politicians who share the first vision to varying degrees.<<<
Duncan Hunter will inspire the electorate to turn out to vote.
Hillary will be the major inspiration to turn out the vote if Frudy McRomney is nominated.
“Thanks for that creek. My hubby is a union member...36yrs. Hes a journeyman lineman. We hate democrats, but its difficult to get on the Republican train. This isnt the only reason, but its a big one.”
29yrs, 7mos, Teamsters member here. Even a shop steward for a couple of years. Started my career as a die hard democrat, became a Reagan Democrat in ‘80 and I am now a die hard conservative. Somewhere to the right of Rush. Plus, I have flipped alot of my union brothers away from the democrat party over the years. The truth, when spoken boldly and with passion, is a powerful thing. I don’t accept liberal lies.
When I say Duncan Hunter can bring along lots of the working class, blue collar types, I mean it!
I grew up down the street from Duncan Hunter and went to school with his younger brother, Jim. I spent many hours at their home as a kid and can tell you that a visit to the Hunter’s home was unlike that of any other home in the neighborhood. When you walked into their front yard, you might find a deer hide being tanned, or a horse nibbling on their lawn, or another brother, John, conducting some extravagant science experiment. You would almost always get a very friendly greeting from their big yellow labrador, Sam. (It seems the Hunters named a lot of stuff “Sam”) They had no television. Instead you would find a library with thousands of books and numerous artifacts from American and California history, Native American baskets, pipes, moccasins, antique guns, and on and on. There were regular discussions about history, current events and politics. I learned to shoot a gun and to use a bow and arrow, how to ride a horse and to make clothes from buckskin as the Native Americans and pioneers did. I learned about the damage that liberals were doing to our country and how to be involved in our community and our nation. I have to say that I learned more about history and Native American culture just hanging out at the Hunter home than I did in 4 years at the University of California as a history major.
Bob and Lola Hunter, Duncan’s parents, demanded excellence and discipline from their children, along with honesty, duty, loyalty, hard work and fairness. And yet, there was always spontaneity and a sense of adventure in their home. Laziness, wastefulness, bullying and cheating were never tolerated.
I remember a photo hanging on the wall in their home of Duncan as an Army Ranger taken in Vietnam. I remember talking with Jim and his dad about what Duncan’s service meant to our country. Duncan’s own son’s military service in Iraq is evidence to me that Duncan raised his own family in much the same way he was raised. Duncan Hunter is the real thing. His positions on the issues won’t evolve with every wind of political convenience, and he did not get his hunting license from a box of Cracker Jack. He will make a great President.
“Apparently some people dont really care about honesty like Hunters. They prefer someone who tells them what they want to hear.”
You are correct that so many choose who to vote for based on whether a candidate tells them what they want, or think they want, to hear.
I find honesty a good thing. Also, I vote based on evidence of a candidates past, as well as whether or not I agree with the candidate.
Agreed! Hunter has been consistently conservative over the years. That is what attracts me to him, also. He isn’t remaking himself in order to become president. He wants to become president because of who he is and what he believes deep down in his soul. Pity that means so little to some.
“No president had ever been elected before George Washington.”
I knew I was forgetting something. Also, what was George Washington’s career before the Revolutionary war? Was he a governor? a Congressman?
I also can not remember how long it has been since we elected a President who fought in the civil war. Can you?
