.............. AND ....
.........
So there I was.... wondering what the "ideal" ticket would look like in the '08 Presidential race..
As many of you know from previous posts I was looking for a Duncan Hunter / Fred Thompson ticket.
I later scratched Fred Thompson off my "dream team" list for reasons discussed in other threads, and have been "searching" for someone to put in the VP slot of my "wish list".
Well Sarah Palin's name came up in a recent discussion, and I can't believe that I never thought about her as VP material before --- but after further considetation I am seriously thinking I might I have finally found my DREAM TEAM TICKET.
Looking for some FReeper input on this idea......
Thanks !! and here is a link..
Official BIO for Gov. Sarah Palin (Alaska)
I agree. Sorry, David, love ya, but no.
The time is not right. IMO.
The time is not right for what specifically? Sarah Palin? or ANY woman?
Any woman. I know, Margaret Thatcher, etc. But I feel that America’s not ready for it. I don’t know that much about her, but she seems like she would be someone to watch in years to come.
buckeye49,
While we disagree I am proud to call you FRiend
David
Thanks, buddy. I am interested in why you think it is a good idea. Just to get another perspective.
If you forget that she is a woman for just a min, and look at how she overcame the odds and was elected Gov. of Alaska, that alone should impress you... then look at her conservative values and the deal is seald in my view..
Ok, will do some searching. However, all that aside, I think the choice should be someone from the east/south.
Palin's education includes a degree in journalism from the University of Idaho. She briefly worked in the media and utility industry.
She served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and became a two-term mayor and manager of Wasilla, one of Alaska's fastest growing communities. She was also elected President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.
In 2002, Palin made a failed bid to become the state's lieutenant governor, coming in second place behind Loren Leman in a four-way race, some say due to her inability to raise campaign contributions equal to that of her opponents. After Frank Murkowski became governor, resigning from his long-time U.S. Senate seat, Palin was considered by some to be a candidate for that job, however Murkowski appointed his daughter, then State Representative Lisa Murkowski.
Governor Murkowski did appoint Palin to serve as a commissioner on the state's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which she served on during 2003-2004, but later resigned, in protest over what she perceived to be the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders. This included the state party's chairman, Randy Ruedrich, a fellow commissioner, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time and providing a sensitive email to a lobbyist. She filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former state Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who was eventually found not guilty.
She served an elected term on the Valley Hospital board. In 2006, Palin won the Republican primary for Governor, defeating then-Gov. Frank Murkowski; she went on to win the general election in November 2006, defeating former Gov. Tony Knowles.
In July 2007, Gov. Palin was heralded in the media as being the most popular governor in the United States, with an approval rating often in the 90s.

>>>Duncan Hunter / David Osborne ticket?
And pissant is speaker!
Ah common! You mean you wouldn’t trust a woman that is PMSing with the football?
Chickens!
But, I share the opinion of the male chauvinistic pigs on this thread (tease). I, as a woman, would never vote for a woman running for President or Vice President.
I’m still of the mindse,t a leader of the Presidential magnitude, should be someone strong, like Duncan Hunter. That means for the Vice Presidential position too.
Great idea! But before we go picking VPs, we need to nominate a P. :)
Hillary doesn’t represent what a woman running for high national office has to be like. Neither did Geraldine Ferraro. Elizabeth Dole was more like it, although she had some flaws but was nothing like either of those two. I’m looking at individuals. Man or woman. Men have great advantages, in general. But a specific woman just might trumph them depending on the individuals involved in a race.
Old_Mil,
Like I said just thinking out loud... it’s good to share ideas... and when Sarah Palin was first brought to my attention I did a little homework and decided to post this thread... FReepers make “research” easy... I figure if there was any oposition (other than the fact that she is a woman — I don’t think she can control that -—) that it would come out...
FReegards,
David
RightFighter,
I resisted commenting on your post at first but I just gotta respond to that.. did you know that folks said the same thing about Sarah Palin when she ran for Gov? — In fact. it is my understanding that the Republican Party Elite — STRONGLY OPPOSED her candidacy — But the PEOPLE spoke and the rest is history -— the same will hold true for Duncan Hunter — no matter how many folks say “I think he is the best candidate, but he can’t win” — the PEOPLE will decide in the end... and IMHO — the people WILL GLADLY welcome Duncan Hunter once they take the time to consider the options — the simple fact of the matter is that the only folks seriously discussing politics right now are the political “junkies” like you and I.... and the rest of FReeperland
FReegards,
David
That’s OK. She’s Conservative Babe of the Week material, but not CIC. Frankly, I don’t think women should even be allowed to run for President.
Pissant will only take the job as dictator for a year.
:)
I really, really think that Hunter has to first figure out how to be more than an asterisk in the polls before his supporters start thinking about who his veep candidate would be.
God Bless you and your goals ;-)
