Mike Huckabee? Are you kidding? Who are you people?

Arkansas Governer Mike Huckabee suddenly seems to be the established GOP savior. True, he is great on the stump. He is and should be a preacher. But president? NOT if you're a conservative!

Remember, a lot of Arkansans voted for a Clinton presidency so they could get him out of the state! Most of them feel as uninspired about the Huckster. YES, I do mean Huckster.

I made a prediction a few months back, that Huckabee would get a GOP push, that he would be perfect pick to them to balance out a moderate Rudy type candidate with his southern charm and religiosity. Now, I'm convinced of it.

A wise observer stated one of Huck's problems perfectly, "Yep Huckabee is his own man alright, except when it comes to illegal immigration. Then he’s George Bush."

Huck talks some good lines on immigration in the debates, but look at some recent statements he's made. In other words, does this man stand by his own policies? One thing that has angered Arkansans is that Huck financed a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock with their tax dollars and insisted on alien children be admitted to college!

LITTLE ROCK -June 30, 2005 - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov. Mike Huckabee told a captive audience Wednesday that America is great because it has always opened it doors up to people seeking a better way of life.

"I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families ...," Huckabee said as the largely Hispanic audience gave him a standing ovation.

Huckabee was the keynote speaker, along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens, which is holding its 76th annual convention in Little Rock.

In his opening remarks, he said the nation will need to address the concerns of the Hispanic community because of its growing influence and population base.

"Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority," Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state's capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation.

"Your gathering is so very significant for our state," Huckabee said. "We are delighted to have you......"

He has compared illegal aliens to slaves brought here in chains from Africa, saying, "I think frankly the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before."

Toward that end, when an Arkansas legislator introduced a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting and receiving state benefits, Huckabee denounced the bill, saying it would rile up "those who are racist and bigots."

He also made the insane point that companies like Toyota would not invest in Arkansas if the state didn't allow non-citizens to vote because it would "send the message that, essentially, 'If you don't look like us, talk like us and speak like us, we don't want you.'

One other bone of contention is shown in this video, where Huckabee Calls for National Smoking Ban in Public Places. Nanny state, anyone?

Ann Coulter sums it up:

"Like all the (other) Democratic candidates for president, he supports a federal law to ban smoking -- unless you're an illegal alien smoking at a Toyota plant. (I just realized why Mike Huckabee can't run for president as a Democrat -- they've already got Mike Gravel.)"

To think the same dopes who call Hunter a “protectionist” and say he has “no chance” have put their support behind pro-amnesty, open-border, MFN Commie-loving RINOs in Congress, Mayor Rooty (of Sanctuary City) or one of these clowns for our next President:

Fred Thompson:

Voted NO on killing a bill for trade sanctions if China sells weapons.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China.

John McCain:

Voted YES to give permanent Normal Trade Relations status to China.

Voted to kill an amendment that would require sanctions against China or other countries if they were found to be selling illicit weapons of mass destruction.

Support the One-China policy, don’t weaken it.

Inaction on spying led to Chinese nuclear improvement.

Voted YES on ending Vietnam embargo.

Admit China to WTO based on their concessions.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Mike Huckabee:

“The good news is that China is becoming much more a part of the mainstream. In its economic development and even in giving greater liberties to its people.”
(from an interview with Time Magazine - 08-09-2007)

“China’s accession to the WTO is a vital step in its incorporation into the rules-based multilateral trading system. This move will strengthen the rule of law and accelerate domestic reforms in China. The long-term political and social impacts of China’s accession may even exceed the commercial benefits.”
(Permanent Normal Trade Relations - PNTR 03-21-2000)

Sam Brownback:

Voted YES on killing a bill for trade sanctions if China sells weapons.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China.

Mitt “Flip” Romney:

“China doesn’t want to bury us. They want to see us succeed and thrive so we can buy more Chinese products”
(so the Chicoms can provide more weapons to our enemies)

******************************************************
Duncan Hunter is the only one not selling us out to our enemies:

“china is cheating on trade and they’re buying ships, planes and missiles with our money, as well as taking millions of jobs.”

Voted YES on deterring foreign arms transfers to China.

Voted NO on Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China.

FRIENDS don’t attack our aircraft and hold our soldiers as hostages:

” Negatives:

1. Supported taxes (Old-fashioned Tax-and-Spend politician)- engineered a 3% state income tax surcharge (a tax on the tax you paid in income tax) that was supposedly to make up for budget shortfalls - and then kept in in place a year longer than was necessary (and promised).

Raised fuel taxes

Encouraged the use of sales tax as an easy means of revenue boosting.

Opposed all efforts to reduce the sales tax on groceries and prescription drugs, even in years with a budget surplus. Heck, our new Democrat (liberal at that) Governor, under public pressure, agreed to a reduction in grocery sales tax...

2. ArKidsFirst - One of the larges social spending programs in Arkansas history was his baby. I don’t have a problem with helping low income folks get medical care, but I know many folks on it that could afford regular coverage - but why when big gubmint will give it free?

3. Big Government - Huckabee, between his socialist healthcare moves, his heavy hand regarding tobacco use, his mandatory “search lunchboxes of school kids” “health” initiative, and massive expansion of most social programs...

4. Poor record of political appointments - just one example - Sheffield Nelson on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission - who has single-handedly tarnished the organization and really pissed off sportsmen in the state with his obstructionist and blatantly anti-”regular Joe” initiatives.

5. Illegal Immigration - Huckabee actually called anyone against illegal immigration (those who wanted to prevent free tuition to illlegals, free social benefits to illegals, etc.) non-Christian.

6. Party Affiliation - Huckabee has chosen in the last couple of elections to not be supportive of Republican candidates, including Lt. Governor, when they were a solid conservative choice, preferring more “moderate” or even liberal candidates.”

This guy is more of a RINO than many of those who Freepers like to call RINOS. HUCKABEE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE P OR VP SLOT.

“As for Huckabee, he’s a joke. Many of us Arkansans realized this quite some time ago. I’m mystified as to why most people nationally haven’t.”

2 factors:

1) Media wants Huckabee for Rudy’s VP. So they are boosting him. (viz. Dick Morris on FoxNews)

2) Huckabee has been quotable in debates, and with a dearth of SoCon RINOS (god forbid people actually look at a 100% conservative like Hunter!) he’s the man to quote.

“To think the same dopes who call Hunter a “protectionist”...” I wouldn’t call Hunter that, but I also dont anything wrong with Thompson’s votes such as:

“Fred Thompson:
Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.
Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China.”

Trade relations helps us. Thinking that way *is* protectionist, and harms our prosperity.

Trade or no trade won’t change what China does with their other relations, eg, military sales, which we and many other countries do too btw.

Putting our manufacturing base on the shores of communist countries DOES harm our prosperity. Especially when someone like Clinton pushes “free trade” for our enemies and suddenly they have technology that they were 30 years behind us on just a few before.

Engaging in commerce with other countries does NOT harm our prosperity. You are espousing the myth of protectionism right there... “Putting our manufacturing base” - Ahem, in a free economy, which is the most prosperity-creating form of economy, each individual company can and should make their own decisions about jobs to create here, and about trade to engage in.

We have a record GDP, record number of jobs, and a powerful economy.

You have the view that if China advances, we cannot, when that is economic bunk.

Correct, which is why you should NOT be opposed to trade relations with these countries! The 2 are not synonymous.
Trade is good, it doesnt harm us!

I’ve worked with Chinese citizens and know the technology transfer rules that you have to comply with, etc. We can trade with China without giving away the store.

In re Huckabee and Illegal Immigration:

Huckabee and Karl Rove have the same theory: I.E. That Mexicans are the Republicans of the Future and will be eventually useful in counterbalancing the death grip the Democrats have on the black vote. THis is an attractive, if entirely bogus, idea in a state like Arkansas which has a close to 50% black electorate.

Also, illegal Mexicans have started to replace blacks in the Arkansas labor pool ... and thus have helped a lot of the Huckster's most fervent supporters make a lot of money.

Huckabee promotes 'open door' policy at LULAC convention

Thursday, Jun 30, 2005

By Wesley Brown Arkansas News Bureau

LITTLE ROCK - In a impassioned speech before hundreds of influential Hispanic civil rights leaders from across the nation, Gov.

About 10,000 political, community and business leaders, along with exhibitors and speakers are in Little Rock attending the convention at the Statehouse Convention Center. The convention started Monday and runs through Saturday.

Although he never actually talked about the U.S. or Arkansas immigration policy, Huckabee made it very clear where he stood on the issue.

"We are delighted to have you (criminal invader illegal aliens)"

Huckabee should be your first choice, Wheeenie. You're both libs. Your support for Fred could backfire and do more harm than good. People might be inclined to not support him just because a doofus like you does.

You are a disgrace.
