Liberty Counsel targets K-Mart, Sears for refusing to use 'Christmas' in ads

A Christian law firm is targeting two retail giants after they offended Christians with their advertising.
Officials at Liberty Counsel say K-Mart and Sears have renamed "Christmas trees" to "holiday trees" in their advertising. According to Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver, a ministry supporter asked K-Mart why it took the action.
"A representative from Sears Holding Corporation, which owns K-Mart as well, wrote back and said that Sears is a diverse company and it did not want to offend any of its associates or valued customers," explains Staver. "It also said this in its letter: we decided to call them, speaking of Christmas trees, holiday trees, because even if Christians are the only religion that use the Christmas tree, we do not want complaints from other customers from different religions complaining about our use of [the term] 'Christmas trees.'"
Staver says such a response is ridiculous and should be cause for a boycott by concerned Christians. He says in an effort not to offend, the retailers have in fact offended a large portion of their base. Sears took similar action two years ago, Staver points out, but was forced to reprint the ads to include "Merry Christmas" after a large public outcry.

Most of them probably come from people that have some other general disagreement with the company (every company is hated by somebody) so they start this kind of stuff as revenge. As you can tell by these threads most people don’t bother to check they just hop on the boycott.

Is every sign in the store in English and Spanish. That’s what they did in a new Lowe’s they built by us. Very disconcerting.

On one hand, I detest those who hijack Christmas, yet fail to honor the Savior.
On the other hand, I dislike seeing the body of Christ get lost in the same world that fails to honor the Savior.

People who threaten to “take legal action” just because they’re offended annoy me.

What does one say for today? “Happy Pearl Harbor Day” doesn’t sound right.

From the BBC:
“Retailer Sears has seen quarterly profits tumble 99%, after poor sales at its Sears and Kmart outlets.”
Surprised?

I went to Sears’ website and they have all kinds of Christmas stuff.

Sears Search on Christmas The last thread like this claimed that Lowe's was doing the same. It was BS too.
If I'm not mistaken the issue is not what's listed on their websites, the issue is these stores not using "Merry Christmas" in their advertisements both print and TV.
The other day I walked through my local Lowe's and saw signs and products that said "Trees" and "Ornaments" but nothing that said "Christmas Trees" and "Christmas Ornaments"

Sears’ website had lots of Christmas stuff but I did not see any music listed.

I own Sears stock and I am righteously proud of their sales record and am so happy Cramer recommended this as well as Lucent. Yep, we’re going to own the market of GE factory seconds.

Really, is there any good reason to even shop at K-Mart anymore? It makes me sick to even think I would ever want to go there.
And as for Sears, if it were not for their tools dept and appliances dept, I guess I would have stopped going there a long time ago. They rest of the store is not for me.
Bah-humbug to you, Sears and K-Mart!
