"Full disclosure: I do lean more towards Fred Thompson more then anybody but I believe this guy deserves some attention and may best embody the [conservative] standards that people say are missing from the other candidates."

A respectful blog article on Duncan Hunter by a Fred Thompson supporter.

It would appear that some see a natural alliance beginning to form.

What we need is for the fools supporting John McCain to wake up to the fact he is a Candidate to No Where. Where those 10-15% end up is going to be critical.

..IMHO, we're not there yet, there are some noticeable differences, but this blogger's tone may be instructive to the FR community...

Duncan Hunter will gain more recognition as the campaign progresses.

..I guess what's wrong is that there is such an array of candidates which span the entire political spectrum.

Since you mention Huck and DH, if you examine closely, there is a lot of difference there...

It would be prudent not count out any candidate until they declare themselves out of the race.

Good article. I like both Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson, and in this order more often than not. Both exemplify or at least speak of issues to my way of liking. If I had to drop to a third candidate it would be Mitt Romney. No, he does not come as close as Hunter and Thompson to matching my thoughts on the issues ... however he is ahead of the other supposed Republican running in matching my thoughts on issues.

I would like to see some meaningful proposals for tax reform, national security, immigration, and social security/medicare reforms be spoken to directly by the candidates. Not necessarily to 'cut each other off at the knees' but maybe to get a real debate going and looking at choices and alternatives ... something our Congress and the Dems and others RINO's don't really offer.

..the hourglass is running out of sand, but DH sounded really confident a couple of days ago on radio.

One revelation that came out was that he isn't going to pay attention to Iowa at all--he is really going after NH and SC. I would think NV is in there too...

He’s already laid some groundwork in NV, WY and SC. Now what he has to do is go back and reinforce it. SC will be pretty tough, it’s become a real battleground, but he can easily slip some delegates in the NV and WY conventions.

NH is going to be the real challenge. It’s awfully optimistic for Hunter to be going after those delegates, but stranger things have happened.

I was reading the Rasmussen daily polls this morning and saw that Huckabee has already peaked out and is starting to fall. We all know of Howard Dean’s cataclysmic fall from glory in ‘04. It’s not too late.

People are finally starting to see what Hunter is all about and giving him a nice, long, hard look.

The Huckster is going far with no money. It pays to have friends in the media apparently.

He has no money, he numbers have not moved an inch. Major media voices like Rush Limbaugh have made his name a joke among rank and file Republicans. Too many old Republicans are in love with McCain’s military resume so they willingly over look his last 7 years of silly PR political grandstanding in the US Senate. Most Young Republican refuse to overlook those stands McCain took.

McCain can be a spoiler. Keeping a % of the Conservative base tied up until it is too late to stop the Establishment candidate. What he cannot do is win. Too much anger over Immigration-CFR-Torture Amendment-Gang of 14 etc for McCain to knit together a coalition to win.

Well if is does it will truly be a diamond because it is taking about a million years to form!

FT and DH need to get with it NOW.

Team up and kick the DBM propaganda machine's butt!

..you're right, I forgot about Wyoming

And the Huck phenomena is probably MSM manipulation anyway, therefore what you said about the Rasmussen data is not surprising. The media has to keep interest in their "product"--hence they will build candidates up then tear them down...

..this is for a friend

Thanks for the ping!

Reasonable article...thanks for posting.

Because the mass market media can't seem to trouble themselves with all of the candidates I felt it necessary to highlight some of things Mr Hunter has been up to in the last couple of days. Maybe it is just that the supposed national media just can't keep up with Mr Hunter, but I think he is someone who now deserves attention.

..I would agree with that campaign sticker if you reverse the names--yes, probably a long time to forge

But if the really liberal candidates (need I name them) begin to look like they are going to steal this one, I think things may advance faster--or else the Republican Party is dead IMHO...

..the hourglass is running out of sand, but DH sounded really confident a couple of days ago on radio.

That is not fact but is pure speculation based on media perception. I'm sure many people felt the same about Abraham Lincoln at the beginning of the 1860 GOP Convention since William Seward was the odds on favorite. It is obvious the so called political experts felt time had run out on Harry Truman because a Chicago newspaper declared Thomas Dewey the winner on the front page above the fold the day after the election! Apparently many people today are falling for the same media trap.
