I guess the humor is lost in each direction. Who cares what his religion was as a boy? If he is lying now about it, that is quite a different issue, but I have yet to read a treatment of this in the press or even at FR that doesn’t laughably confound the issue of his childhood religion with that of his integrity in 2008. The reasoning is as such: “BHO was registered as a Muslim; therefore he must have been a practicing Muslim; therefore we cannot believe what he says now about having been a goof-off Muslim; therefore we must find him insincere in his Christianity and a liar.” I compare this to: “McCain was born in Central America; therefore he by nature favors Latinos; therefore he is lying when he cites any other reason for being opposed to enforcement of immigration laws; therefore McCain is insincere in his statements about immigration policy and a liar.”

The question is, what will 1.5 billion Muslims do if they are informed that Obama is an apostate Muslim. You do know what their religious obligation would be, don’t you?

I am sure neither you nor I want 1.5 billion Muslims determining the outcome of this election nor the content of US policy. That Obama was blessed with the ability to leave Islam and embrace Christianity is a good thing.
We can understand the reality of a world in which there would be 1.5 billion potential assassins, and their governments would be forbidden from interfering with them. This would substantially increase the danger of a world holocaust. I do not want a world holocaust.
I don’t want one either. I see the ascendancy of Ahmadinejad as being far more provocative in that regard than that of Obama, but I’ve been wrong before.

Over at the mangy site someone is ‘leaking’ Obama will choose Anthony Zinni (ret) Gen, USMC for veep.
This is rather alarming. If he really was a Muslim, he could be targeted as a defector from the faith, and it’s no secret what many Muslims do to ex-Muslims.
He has a fairy-like lightness.
And he'll gut our defense department, and sit down with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over some nice sweet tea, and everything will be fine.
Somebody will have to pick up his head, but everything will be fine.
His Muslim schooling, his commie Uncle Frank, his perfect grasp of Saul Alinsky, his years at Columbia under Brzezinski, his giddy readiness to embrace Hamas--
And he can still, still, sing the Muslim call to prayer.
