Bush: "No action has been taken on this issue by the leaders of the Democratic Congress. . . They haven’t even held a single hearing.” It is now up to the Democrats to lift the final barrier to energy independence.

Those cupcakes won't do it, and they'll pay for it in November.

Well done, GWB! The Dems want to stall a decision on drilling until after the election. Bush’s action will force it to remain as a campaign issue.

Some weeks ago Pelosi was blaming the President and putting the ban on his lap. Well, let’s see their move next, they no longer use that excuse.

I’ve got to hand it to W.

He’s refusing to be lame.

Now if only he’d call Congress into an emergency session and hold them there 24/7 until they solve this crisis by removing drilling restrictions and lowering the barriers to refinery expansion. THAT would be leadership.

Too bad we had to wait until a few months before the election for this.

"Sounds too good to be true. Is this satire?"

It's for real and it smacks the Democrats hard. Should be a fun show to watch as the Democrats squirm and spin.

Thanks Mr. President.

BTW, why did your dad issue the first EO?

Why did you sign to extend it until 2012 before you decided to cancel the order?

NICE G W. I love how he calls out the Democrat Congress rather than just saying Congress as he often does.

How much is oil down today?

gas didn't reach 4 bucks a gallon until now. It was in the low $2's when Congress turned over. In a year and a half it jumped to $4.

there is nothing wrong with using common sense environmental restrictions if we don't suffer too much.

I am sure this appeased some people as well as made them feel good. Now it's time to lift it because it is causing some problems in the economy or at least perceived problems.

Congress will now have an opportunity to go into negative approval numbers.

Congress at 9% Approval

The Democrat controlled Congress has made history.

From Rasmussen Reports:

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

...The percentage of Democrats who give Congress positive ratings fell from 17% last month to 13% this month. The number of Democrats who give Congress a poor rating remained unchanged. Among Republicans, 8% give Congress good or excellent ratings, up just a point from last month. Sixty-five percent (65%) of GOP voters say Congress is doing a poor job, down a single point from last month.

Voters not affiliated with either party are the most critical of Congressional performance. Just 3% of those voters give Congress positive ratings, down from 6% last month. Sixty-three percent (63%) believe Congress is doing a poor job, up from 57% last month.

These numbers are stunning.

Among independents, just 3% give Congress positive ratings. THREE PERCENT!
