Sights and Sounds from the McCain - Palin Rally in Washington, Pennsylvania - Video 8/30/08

Here is an outstanding video shot by someone in the crowd at the McCain - Palin rally held in Washington, Pennsylvania yesterday, August 30, 2008. It is one of the best I've seen at really giving a sense of the sights and sounds at a McCain event. You can really sense the enthusiasm there. That is an tangible to McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for VP that cannot really be measured by the polls. Clearly, this selection has energized the base of the GOP, which will translate into a much more powerful "ground game" in the run-up to the election - and for the "get-out-the-vote" efforts on November 4. . . . (see video at link)

Enthusiasm for McCain-Palin is racist! Rallies for McCain-Palin are racist and should be banned! /libscum

In all seriousness, though, good stuff. Haven’t seen the base this energized since Reagan’s second run. Frankly didn’t think it was possible this go-around. That is, before Palin I didn’t.

I love the ACDC track with it. They need to use that at the convention.

You all should see the wonderful, amazing front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer today.

This paper covered the Obama speech like it was the Eagles winning the Super Bowl. So it was an awesome surprise to see this front page today!

Palin is going to be super-popular here in the Philly suburbs. I can't wait for her first appearance here.

But, but, but...CNN says they booed her!

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

Does CNN really think we’re this stupid? Do they really think that a GOP crowd is directly booing their candidate instead of *just* the mention of Hillary? They’re trying to pass this off as the crowd booing to the ‘pandering’, but notice, they say NOTHING of the crowd booing at mentions of Geraldine Ferraro or the ‘glass ceiling’ line. In fact, it seems they cheered the latter.

CNN, you’re pro-Obama bias is showing.

D’oh! You beat me to it. I was really enjoying AC/DC song, “For Those About to Rock, We Salute You.” I was listening to it just yesterday.

The enthusiasm at this rally was incredible. I hope every one of them turns their excitement into tangible support for conservative candidates like Bill Russell (Murtha’s opponent).

Yes, I was there. And yes, she was awesome (crowd kept chanting “Sarah!” “Sarah!”).

Her hubby was cute, too.

You leave me wanting more.

Should you write more about your experience I'd appreciate a ping pretty please. The You tube link on this thread only had a few seconds on her speech. If you find a transcript or a YouTube of her speech pass that along too.

Here's a little bit of what I posted on the other thread last night:

Anyway, it was definitely a huge, highly energized crowd. I’m not sure how many were there, but they told me the usual ballpark capacity was 7,000, and by the time the rally started, not only were all the seats filled but there were masses of people standing on the field and in the aisles. Traffic was backed up on I-70 starting at 2:30 PM, and the rally didn’t officially begin until 5.

Since this is Steeler country, the campaign handed out thousands of gold & black “Terrible Towels” with McCain’s name printed on them instead—a neat idea. Lynn Swann gave some introductory remarks, then left early because he had to get to his son’s first Midget football game.

More:

Tom Ridge talked for a while (a little too long, IMO) but gave a great introduction for McCain, stating that he has known him for 25 years, and that they both started in the House together. He offered a few little zingers against the Obamamessiah.

Oh, and Diana Irey was there. She's a little powerhouse, that lady. Sorry she didn't pull the Congressional race off against Murtha. I was expecting to see William Russell since the rally was in his territory, but if he was there he wasn't on the podium roster.
