Since when did anyone make a campaign issue out of vetting? Since the mainstream media needed a sneaky excuse to attack Gov. Sarah Palins family without being obvious in doing so, thats when.
The coverage of John McCains running mate over the past several days has been some of the most disingenuous, disgusting behavior I have ever seen from the mainstream media. They are engaging in character assassination without having the courage to at least do so honestly.
When the news broke on Monday that Palins 17-year-old, unmarried daughter is pregnant, the left-wing chatterbox sites went bananas with glee and smug satisfaction. They think evangelical Christians consider themselves to be morally superior, and they especially hate the notion among Christians and many other conservatives that abstinence from sex is the best thing you can teach kids about sex.
So when Bristol Palins pregnancy became public, the folks on DailyKos, DemocraticUnderground and Reddit.com could hardly contain their exuberance. One of those uppity Christians was proven a hypocrite! Abstinence-only education doesnt work! Moral superiority fail!

They just didn’t have a Mark Foley substitute ready — which is why I think the drive bys are so mad and throwing their usual hissy fit.
Beautifully put. The MSM is lower than whale dung.
Ah yes, it's everyone's old favorite, The Seriousness of the Charge.
Sen. Biden's Daughter Arrested in Altercation
Topics: Political News and commentaries
Since the LA Times is reporting it, we'll pass it along. To me the only thing remarkable about the incident that should be worthy of comment is that Sen. Biden's spokeswoman, Margaret Aitken, declined to comment about the incident and called it a private, family matter - to which I wholeheartedly agree. However, why doesn't the same apply to Bristol Palin's pregnancy?
As a matter of principle I have not and will not comment on private family matters of presidential candidates, except to defend their right to privacy, unless their actions take on a political nature such as the case when Michelle Obama said that "America is just downright mean."
I have never heard of Dan Calabrese before but he does a good job of writing about what has happen the last week with the scum lame stream media’s coverage of Governor Palin.
It is because they are in the tank for zerobama the Chicago “community organizer”.
When was Obama vetted?
If the Drive-By Media thinks McCain made the wrong pick, shouldn’t they be HAPPY ABOUT THAT?
If McCain made a bad pick, that should be good for Obama, right?
Hannity needs to hit Colmes with that question.
The RATs and the MSM don’t give a damn about Palins pregnant daughter or her husband’s 22 years ago DUI.
But......they think you do. They do want to recreate a Foley-like scandal because they think they can depress the vote and people will stay home like 2006.
I mentioned yesterday, that is is obvious these people have formed their opinion of evengelicals by watching “Carrie”. They think that if they emphasize this 17 unmarried pregnant girl, you will show your intolerence and judge Sarah Palin as a bad Mom and stay home.
Problem with these Democrat elites, they know very little about the people that inhabit the vast space in America. We are just hard working folks who will love and support our sometimes errant kids. We pick up the pieces and move on with life.
It is breathtaking to watch their ignorance showing.
Speaking of that, did you hear? Sarah Palin was the pilot of the SR-72 Blackbird who flew VP-elect GHW Bush too Iran to arrange for the release of the hostages 30 minutes after Reagan was sworn in.
Sen. Biden’s Daughter Arrested in Altercation
Being arrested is NOT a private matter.
But Spitzer paying government money, and transporting a prostitute across a state line for the purpose of sex, a felony, if manly and cool to them Funny how the left magnifies their double standard
The writer makes an important point that’s over overlooked when complaining about media bias: first and foremost they are tricky.
By now we are nearly numb to headlines like ‘questions swirl,’ ‘doubts linger,’ ‘xxxxxx called a gamble’ etc. As the writer says headlines and stories like these are an excuse to reprint (and publicize) the most outrageous lies, distortions and rumors while attempting to keep media skirts clean.
The Rise of Palin has many positives - one of them is exposing the slick-looking-but-still-gutter press.
That’s because they couldn’t wait for Joe Biden to bring up the VP candidate’s daughter the way John Edwards did in the debate against Dick Cheney.
Just remember that there was a majority media blackout on all aspects of the John Edwards bastard adulterous child story until John Edwards held his wimpy press conference during the opening of the Olympics.
Someone needs to hold up Obama’s words about how it doesn’t make you a man just to make a baby. The father is stnading with the mother at least for now.
Where is Johnboy? Blaming the pregnancy on one of his staffers and sliding money under table to her to settle.
Obama was vetted before the 2004 DNC convention when he was selected to be “the One”.
It is pure yellow journalism and they are scared s***less that they are going to lose another election and see their circulation figures drop even lower.
I think that any news agency that is caught (as Newsday was) lying about their circulation figures should be required by court order to put a banner of text above the newspaper title: “We lied about our circulation figures”. A good two years of such practice per paper would make everyone realize how worthless their “reporting” is.
I guess he vetted himself this time around.
The MSM makes it look like the presidential candidate does the vetting during a presidential race.
They're saying McCain should have vetted Palin
