While campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."
"However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open." Zebari says.
Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate.

Correct. The key question being, did the Iraqi Foreign Minister actually say what he's reported has having said.
IF he did so, Obama is toast. Burnt toast.

I think it might take more than one person, but if other Iraqi officials admit Obama did the same thing then this is serious.
How well will it play in the land of the looney left? I don’t know. But it seems like Obama negotiating a delay in bringing home the troops for his own personal benefit, ought to cause second doubts among those anti-war leftists that are really all about the war.
It is time for a full independent investigation. Remember the democrat line it is the seriousness of the charge.
Sometimes these guys will say something only to take them back later. But I agree, this would be devistating if it turns out to be true. That’s why the Obamas will pull out all the stops to bury it.
I was hardly politically cognizant at the time, but didn’t the left and press (same thing) accuse then-candidate Ronald Reagan of having secret meetings with the Iranians about securing the release of the hostages, but only after the election?
Did Barack’s emmissaries offer the Iraqis “Earth and Water”?

MSM won’t play this as an “Obama wanted to stall” story, but instead a “Bush wanted to pull troops pre-election” story.
The enemy isn’t Obama, it is the powerful MSM. Take down the MSM and all Obamas go away, or, rather, cease to be politically relevant.
Convert energy used making the case against Obama to instead make the case against the MSM.
At work today, the topic of Obama's race came up and I casually mentioned that I thought he had more North African/Middle Eastern genetic heritage than sub-Saharan Black heritage.
I was immediately slammed.
I KNOW I bookmarked a recent thread where somebody detailed the ethnic background of Obama's father and how Obama was primarily a descendent of Arabic/North African ancestors and not Black ancestors.
Any help out there with sites to this information?

Obama is only 6.25% African Native (Federal Standard definition of Black). You must be at least 12.5% of the racial component you claim for minority status. Therefore, is not Black.
Obama is 50% White from his mother’s side, 43.75% Arabic (Omani), and the 6.25% African Native is from his father’s side. This is where he gets his dark pigmentation from.
