Raising Transgender Awareness
by: Deborah Lambert, September 26, 2008
Transgender students at Yale are concerned that the school is not focusing enough time and energy into providing gender-neutral housing, according to Anthony Paletta on mindingthecampus.com.
School spokesmen explained that their efforts are being hampered by the residential housing layout on campus. But Yales lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, pointing to what they say is a disturbingly low number of openly transgender students on campus, are pushing the University to do more to make Yale feel welcoming to transgender students.
Yale is currently one of only two Ivy League schools not to offer its undergraduates gender-neutral housing, and unless that changes, LGBT community members say, the University will get stuck in a self-perpetuating cycle that will make it difficult to attract transgender students.
However, the Yale Daily News reported that applicants still find the school appealing because of its active queer population and renowned Womens Gender and Sexuality program.....

Tragic.

Heres how it works. You are a man or a women. You are not both and you are not half of one and half of the other. YOU do not get to choose. You are what you are. Now you CAN claim or act out being whatever you want to, but that does not mean that WE normal people, have to play along. deal with it..........
Meanwhile, in the real world, many Americans are worrying about whether they’ll be able to keep ANY roof over their heads.
Any student who is seriously “concerned” about this needs to get the h*!! out of the ivory tower and go volunteer to work in a shelter housing newly homeless Galveston refugees, or to help move poor working families out of the homes they’ve just lost to foreclosure into their new quarters in cramped apartments or run-down trailers in crime-ridden neighborhoods.
There are plenty of people who really are biologically part male/part female. But that doesn’t describe most of the whiny activists pushing for nonsense like “gender-neutral dorms” on campuses where most (if not all) dorms are co-ed and most (if not all) dorms include co-ed bathrooms.
First, a low transgender count on campus is a wonderful thing, not a cause for concern.
Second, why don’t these places make a conscious effort to bend over backwards for the MAJORITY of students for a change, rather than giving a moral and inttelectual “F$CK YOU” to them? (Don’t reply I already know the answer.)
Third, a previous poster was right, you are either born either a man or a woman. You don’t get to choose. The only way this happens is if you’re born a hermaphrodite - a very low chance of that - but your parents then must choose for you, not you.
Another way the smarter-than-the-rest-of-us smug pointy-headed elites mainstream immorality under the guise of liberal wisdom and selective tolerance.
Is it a college or a Mental Institution? Is there a disturbing lack of students who don’t go to class in Black Face?
gender-neutral housing,
The mind reels. Everybody is either male or female and if someone wants to claim to be both then they are on their own.
And the down side is?
There’s PLENTY of “Gender-neutral” housing available.
We call them “apartments” and “Houses”. Go rent one, and put on your freakshow there. . .
Somehow I fail to see the problem here.
I would think that this is such a vanishingly small number as to be inconsequential.
