In the wake of each election, we must always remember how proud History is of our endeavor. While most of History is littered with violent exchanges of power, the United States rather calmly transitions between one Presidency and the next. And so it will be again despite the loss of this election.
We must also keep things in perspective. After all, when Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton and the rest fought to secure our freedom, there was no working democracy in the world. Prior to World War II, there were but six such outposts of Liberty and the majority of democracies in the World today are but two decades old. In the long sweep of history, therefore, Liberty is on the rise thanks in large part to the American example.
Here at home, we would do well to remember that the Republican vision has adorned our White House for 28 out of the last 42 years. Despite this loss, it will soon again because of the false promises of government programs and the ill-winds of class warfare are veils ill-suited to shield the truth for long.
In the years that follow, I have little doubt that the Democrats will far overreach and claim a mandate that simply is not there. Keep in mind how close this election was despite (a) Obama having the great benefit of two years of a stunningly supportive and a sometimes deceptive Media and (b) Obama dramatically outspending McCain.
The Democrats will not see it that way let alone understand that Government unquestionably is the cause of our current crisis. Having led us to this point, our politicians - and the governments they run - are more than unlikely to lead us out of the woods. As our troubles become worse because of the improvident tax
