Media Deathwatch: McClatchy Media Stock Near Zero
The Patriot Room ^ | November 14, 2008 | Bill Dupray

I love this stuff. The free market is such an unforgiving mistress. McClatchy publishes about 30 newspapers around the country, including The Miami Herald, The Charlotte Observer, The Kansas City Star, and The Sacramento Bee.

And while they will blame falling circulation on the internet, they also happen to be card-carrying members of the liberal MSM.

It is amazing how suicidal these left-wing media types are.

The real estate will be worth something. It’ll be interesting to see what the KC Star sells for.

For it to have fallen to $2, they must have been losing money for long enough that the real estate is all mortgaged. And in the current real estate market, it's likely that the mortgages are for more than the current value of the real estate.

I'm thinking it will be a bankruptcy sale.

Their financial bankruptcy follows their intellectual and moral bankruptcy.

I wonder if a bail-out will be arranged.

Won’t be long before it will be in the penny stock category. Then if we are lucky it will soon after close its doors.

Wow. I am a reporter at a Libertarian paper and we are doing fine right now....circulation a bit down, but that is the Internet. Until a way to make money with paper websites is found, that will continue.

The liberal rags are just drowning though. Thank goodness I am not working for a big city paper right now, or I could very well be out of a job soon.

Bush has done wonders for the stock market, lol. He did such a good job that we now have Barack Hussein Obama for President of the United States.

Thanks a lot , George! Have fun in Crawford.

McClatchy stock closed today at $ 1.63 per share. Getting close to zero. Maybe they can hold on long enough to celebrate the coronation of BO and then go bankrupt.

i am going to shout now...

WOULDN’T THIS BE A GOOD TIME FOR CONSERVATIVES TO START BUYING UP THESE LIBERAL RAGS??

after all - i think the only way to win this war is by establishing our own (conservative) media outlets.

i think that the democrats and the new Nobama admin. are going to prop up and bailout the dinosaur media. They need “The New York Obama Times” and the others to survive so that they can continue to be a force of liberal influence in perpetuity.

i wonder what the legal and ethical ramifications would be with the government taking over the media... hmmmm... not that it would matter to the liberals.

What would happen if Freerepublic.com bought them?

seems at such low prices they are ripe for a hostile takeover and quick bankruptcy to wash out the unions.

Ya know....the only value of media in the end, on a large scale, is to reinforce the diktat of a central government. The current media, while having proven they CAN elect someone, probably helped elect a non-qualified, un-Constitutional candidate. Their utility to the state is minimal in that regard at this point....and the next question that follows...is how strong IS the diktat of the central government without a media of integrity???

We’re about to find out.

Hey that's not fair. The mainstream media has done a lot of in-depth investigation into Obama lately.
