Governor’s Arrest Leaves Mixed Feelings

Public officials continue to rail against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich after his arrest on federal corruption charges. But some Illinois residents say they’re feeling conflicted.

“He’s undertaken quite a number of initiatives designed to benefit immigrants in our state,” says Fred Tsao, policy director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. “Being the son of a Serbian immigrant himself, he definitely understood immigration on a very deep and personal level.”

On Chicago’s West Side, retired factory worker Jacinto Peña says he’d be sad to see Blagojevich go. Peña says he appreciates the governor’s support of free transit for seniors. “What he did for the old people? I love that man. He’s a good man.”

Peña also credits the governor for expanding children’s access to health care.

This is what America has turned into...immigrant groups praising a politician they helped to elect for largesse bestowed.

Is this our future? Semi-literate Third World Immigrants supporting openly corrupt politicians who use other people's money to give them things. This is the political culture that has rendered much of the Third World unlivable. Appalling.

Ah, public radio...doing what it does best: crafting personal interview stories that pull on the heartstrings to divert attention away from what should be, but never is, the real story stories: shakedown artists, thieves and terrorists, domestic and foreign.

MY feelings are pure joy and delight — nothing “mixed” about them at all.....

OK, hold on..... well there is an admixture of disgust for what our political system is like, how such corrupt lowlife animals rule so much of our lives, etc.

But I don’t think those are the kind of “mixed feelings” the reporter had in mind....
