Get That Menorah Away From That Christmas Tree

(UPDATED) Every time a community puts up a Christmas tree, one of two things happen: Either there is a battle to take it down totally, or someone fights to get a Chanukia (that's the word not Menorah) placed right next to it. Then Fox news follows by running stories about the latest battle in the "war against Christmas"

Two great examples of this PC craziness happened two years ago. One at the Seattle airport, and the other involving Ice Skater Sasha Cohen....

....People who look toward December as an opportune time for the celebration of PC multi-culturalism have to stop! I understand that people are trying to be fair, but the true meaning of Chanukah is the exact opposite of that multi-cultural rubbish. Chanukah is a holiday about assimilation. ...

OK enough blog post. However, not happy with the slam on the mixed families.

Let the mixed families do what they need to do.

So, Christmas ain’t Chanukah and Chanukah ain’t Christmas.

A truly tolerant, “multicultural” society would say that that is OK and let (the vast majority) of people who want to celebrate Christmas do so - openly and publicly and the people who want to celebrate Chanukah do so as well. As a Christian I’m OK with that.

The irony being that Chanukah is in fact an antimulticultural holiday aimed at preserving Jewish tradition and culture. (Antimulticulturalism being the 21st century answer to antidisestablishmentarianism.)

Chanukah is a holiday about assimilation. ...?

That’s a stretch, at best.

Hanukkah, marks the re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem after its desecration by the forces of Antiochus IV and commemorates the miracle of the container of oil. We are Christian and celebrate Christmas but we also have a very old brass menorah we keep lit during this season as a reminder of how God supply’s for his people.

Chanukah is when we celebrate when the "Light of the World"
entered his tabernacle to be our Lamb of G-d as covering for all of our sins.

Psalm 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.

You said — “Chanukah is when we celebrate when the “Light of the World”
entered his tabernacle to be our Lamb of G-d as covering for all of our sins.”

Yes, and probably more Christians need to be aware of this connection...

Not in the least. If you read the Historical record the Maccabees were fighting Jewish Assimilation as much or more than the Hellenists. It was a Civil war over the soul of Jewish people. The light for eight days was added by the rabbis later.
