Resuscitating America’s Conservative Party - Simple, but NOT Easy!
Canada Free Press (because America has no free press!) ^ | January 13, 2009 | JB Williams

It’s no secret that America’s conservative party, the Republican Party, has not been conservative in some time. Though many conservative voters are disappointed by the recent liberal behaviors of many Republican leaders, I must remind them that Bush has been exactly what he said he was, a “compassionate conservative.”

Now we know, he meant a generational family conservative, who like too many congressional Republicans, has been far too compassionate towards leftist notions and policies…

As a result, America’s conservative party is on life support today and people are scrambling in search of a quick fix. There is no quick fix… It took years to wreck the party to this degree and it could take years to rebuild it, in case anyone is still interested in that effort to begin with.

The Next RNC Chairman???

“There is no quick fix” Yes there is, it was demonstrated by the dem’s over the past 8 years and simple to justify.

We start calling ourselves, the Opposition Party responsible for looking out for the minority of Americans not represented by the majority in all the branches of government.

The key is to not over think this or over do it. KISS

Correct, on how to work the next two years...

Much more is needed to win a national election anytime soon...

Which of the current RNC candidates for chairman is fully prepared to do either, much less both?

Right on EC. Opposition to wrong-headed tax and spend policies. Call them what they are. Everyone seems ok with spending a trillion dollars we don’t have!

I think we should attack Obama relentlessly and push his numbers down. Worked for the Democrats against Bush. Difference is, with Obama, we’d be justified in doing so.

How timely. I just got a call from the Texas Repub Party, I told them no dice, I support individual candidates/incumbents with my $$ based on their PERFORMANCE.

I also told them that Repubs in general gave all their leadership away starting in ‘06 that WE had won for them, that they had betrayed our troops of which our son is one, by not fighting for them in Congress holding traitors to account. Nope, no more. For any RINO supporters here, I am for every RINOs defeat and replacement and am working hard toward that end.

The RNC must reset its platform to a wholly conservative agenda; because they can never out-liberal the liberals and they can’t win elections trying to…

In other words, RINO's FAIL.

The RNC must pander to its foundation, not to people across the aisle or people who don’t know what they stand for

In other words, don't listen to MODERATES who ruined the GOP pre- and post-Reagan.

Spot on.

One notion which should be dispelled is the absurd idea that the future of the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement are not bound together. There will always be people who consider themselves more conservative than Republican (like me) and people who consider themselves more Republican than conservative.

With a few exceptions like the two GOP senators from Maine, the liberal wing of the Republican Party is essentially extinct. Now people can still go off and join minor Libertarian and American Independent parties if they wish, but if history is any guide, they will be relegated to the outskirts and twilight zone of American politics.

As a practicing Roman Catholic, I was shocked and outraged over the size and scope of the pedophile priest scandal. Rather than leaving the Church in disgust, I have since become even more active in it. I have since become a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a eucharistic minister at my church.

I would suggest conservative activists and dejected Republicans do likewise. Too often, I find among my fellow conservative activists, and insatiable need to find political perfection among our Republican politicians. All too often I hear someone say, this guy voted the wrong way on a particular issue even though his overall voting record is rather conservative. This is where we go wrong. There is nothing perfect in this world of ours, least of all in politics and politicians.

The Republican Party is much like the Catholic Church, an old institution with a rich history and tradition. I do believe in the Cathechism of the Republican Party which I understand as follows:

1) A belief in limited government and lower taxes.

2) A belief in capitalism and free markets.

3) A belief in rule of law and the notion that judges should interpret the law, not make their own laws.

5) A belief in a strong national defense and secure borders.

6) A belief in the traditional Judeo-Christian value system which is the solid bedrock of Western civilization.

Because of these strongly held beliefs and values, I now remain dedicated to building up the Republican Party which is now really the only national institution equipped to fight and oppose the BHO socialistic agenda of the DemocRAT Party.

Thanks. Now wouldn’t it be nice if Political Science professors taught the truth about politics:

1) Nationalist Socialists are Nazis.

2) Internationalist Socialists are Communists.

3) American Socialists are DemocRATS.

4) Republican Socialists are RINOS.

I am old, tired, and not healthy, and not alone. Any revival will have to come from the young people, and I don’t see any fire in them.

If it weren’t for bad luck, the Republicans would have had no luck at all.

“Bad luck”, it turns out, is the result of inaction and impaired judgment. There were things to be done, and weren’t. To be sure, a lot WAS done, but not always what was useful or wise in the circumstances.

It is simple enough to restore a viable vision. Just calling up the framework that was created by Newt Gingrich in 1993, and building and adapting it to the present situation, would define the Republicans in a way they have not been in a decade.

What should (conservative) Republicans stand for? Not for bailouts, to be sure, and certainly not for the “New New Deal” proposed by the shadow cabinet of the nascent obama regime. A HUGE reversal has to be called for, disassembling and dismantling most of the “reforms” that were passed under a facade of “bipartisanship” between RINOs and doctrinaire liberals. Number one to start with, is to repeal the “McCain-Feingold campaign finance” fiasco. Especially since one of the candidates opted out of the provisions, and therefore afforded himself a most disproportionate access to funding. Another would be to END the failed “No Child Left Behind” plan and return this to the states to administer individually, and turn to block grants to the states to provide the funding they could apply to administration of this and a number of other programs. That the states may misuse or divert the funds to other programs, should not be the concern of the Federal Government, but the subsequent payments in the following year would be reduced by the amount that was diverted from the block grant.

Goes far beyond that.

As the government flooded this country with tens of millions of illegal, uneducated, ignorant socialist, in the past decade or so, we knew it was only a matter of time until our entire system was undermined and compromised.

That included our electoral process, unfortunately.

Good thing Ronald Reagan didn’t feel like you at his age.

I thought it looked pretty danged gloomy after the Watergate debacle in 1974.

...I liked what you had to say, thought it was well thought out and expressed...but just for the record, when referring to priestly scandals, please remember, these actions were driven by homosexulity, not pedophilia...makes a big difference...
