This is how a free state dies

The Democrat coalition is firing on all cylinders. Team Obama is wielding carrots wrapped in $100 steaks and lubricated with adult beverages (vodka martinis are an Obama favorite, reportedly). Congressional Democrats are gathering up a gargantuan pork bill labeled a “stimulus package.” The MSM is acting as the democrats’ cheerleaders, and the rabid Left like the Soros funded MoveOn is using its media organs to call people who oppose this program a traitor.

This is what a Soviet State look like. All that’s missing are the local thugs to hold rallies and beat the opposition into bloody submission. Oh wait, that’s part of the plan.

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."

In a way it’s not surprising that one of the clearest call to arms comes from Europe where this process is already far advanced. After all, the people who have been the staunchest anti-communists are those who have experienced the real thing.

Gerald Warner in the UK Telegraph:

GOP has a duty to deny Barack Obama his one-party state

"Include me out!" Sam Goldwyn's dictum was the message sent by all 177 Republican congressmen to Barack Obama when they voted against his so-called stimulus package. The GOP got this one right, for two reasons. The first is that the Republicans have avoided the taint of complicity. When this Raw Deal goes belly-up, they can look their constituents in the eye and remind them: "We voted against it."

It was also crucially important to say "No" to Obama - so few people do these days. ...

“the Soros funded MoveOn is using its media organs to call people who oppose this program a traitor.”

Frightening, isn't it?

And they have attempted to identify conservatism in the persona of Rush Limbaugh, who better watch his back carefully

And that “civilian security force”?

Slick misty “morning in America-type” ads are now running on FOX NEWS in the smooth voice and smiling face of the Dear Leader, urging people to register for volunteer service.
Look for community organizers to set up community recruiting sites, in our schools and churches- soon

This community organizing campaign is not directed at the hard core unemployed dysfunctional classes in the inner cities- no, it is aimed at the 58 million people who dissented from the One’s takeover - and their children

Just as his political machine is trying to convert or grind up dissenting GOP lawmakers EVEN THOUGH HIS PORKULA BILL PASSEFD WITH DEMOCRAT MAJORITY VOTES

Normally a nation is looted after it falls. Our political and business leaders have managed to reverse this process.

Meanwhile the “show trial” process marches on with Con-yours and others moving to indict and prosecute former Bush officials for doing their jobs.

"To see the greatest pluralist democracy on earth being herded by its media into a cultish adoration of a man who is determinedly converting it into the successor state of the Soviet Union is thoroughly alarming."

MoveOn ads ask Republican Senators who they will vote with, and show pictures of Obama and Rush. Conservative ads should show the reality - a photo of the NBC,ABC,CBS,CNN, and MSNBC logos next to a group photo of Rush, Hannity, et al, and ask "Who will you vote with?", because that's the reality in America today.

We are making a mistake if we focus on Obama and the Democrats. They can only harm America with the support of the MSM. The enemy of a free America, one with minority rights, is the MSM. The MSM are BIASED (without admission), deceptive, and pervasive (Magazines, newspaper, TV, radio news). Just as the MSM and moveon.org are focusing on Rush and conservative talk radio, we need to focus on the biased MSM and speak out about their bias. The MSM majority is OUT OF CONTROL and is trying to crush minority media, views and rights in this country and the situation needs to change.

Are Acorn offices clearly marked as such, or are they hidden away? If push come to shove, taking out the key leadership appears to be the best strategy. Cut off the head and the snake will die.

There was a political party that I remember from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. They also called themselves the Democratic Party. What happen to them and who are these dangerous phonies?

The simplest way to stimulate the economy?

I don't know the agenda, if any, of the Institute for Policy Innovation but here is an excerpt from their 1996 Tax Policy & the 1960s: Another Look At the Kennedy Tax Cuts by Gary and Aldona Robbins Senior Research Fellows.

"Economic performance and tax policy during the 1960s went hand in hand. Tax cuts, particularly those on capital, led to a doubling of the 1950s growth rate. But as taxes were increased after 1965, growth slowed and the decade ended as it began, with recession . . . lower taxes on capital, particularly the tax depreciation changes and investment tax credit, accounted for over three-fourths of the economic boost from the tax cuts of the 1960s."

My memory is of reduced personal taxes and reduced withholding -- the easiest, cheapest way of putting money in the hands of the people -- NOT BY "GIVING" A STIMULUS CHECK TO THE PEOPLE BUT BY NOT TAKING SO MUCH OF OUR EARNINGS!

One note of caution: make sure this time that the withholding matches the new, lower taxes. I still remember signing over my paycheck to the IRS, plus a money order, to pay 1964 taxes. No one knew until it was too late that withholding was reduced too much.

Reduced taxes from the dangerous phonies? Fat chance.

LBJ increased taxes after 1965 -- and started raiding SS funds, I believe -- to pay for "guns and butter (his 'Great Society')."

I once got invited to a “Going Out Of Business Party”. Buddy of mine made a small fortune selling the building and property where he had a gin mill and threw the party, invitees only. It was a neighborhood joint and we were all friends. The names of all the guests were thrown in a hat and picked one at a time. As your name was picked, you could select any item you wanted. Everything was fair game except the pay telephone. Folks walked off with the juke box, cigaret machine, pinball machine, coolers, stools, glasses....everything. IMO, what is going on with the bailouts and stimuli is not much different.

PS....I got a neon sign and a case of Crown Royal.(I was picked late)

Completely correct. However, I think we should call them the Propaganda Media because that is truly what they really are.

I used to wonder why politics in the later Roman Empire and Byzantine Empires was marked by a large number of political assassinations.

Now I know why-- in a regime where partisan differences cannot be reconciled in a republican manner, it's much less destructive to the whole society than civil war.

I prefer to avoid overheated rhetorical terms such as this, but you know what? It isn't overheated. This is what the Soviet Union looked like. The difference between CNN and MSNBC is the same difference between Izvestia and Pravda.

I keep asking myself (and I’ve yet to find the answer): When does the shooting start? What will be the catalyst? Or will we merely roll over for the safety and security of our jobs and homes? At some point, enough is enough. But when is that point?

I think the tipping point will come with the Orwellian 'Fairness Doctrine'. If they try to silence all political opposition, people will resort to force almost immediately because it will be an almost naked attempt at tyranny.

One of the big problems here is the almost unholy alliance between big-business fat-cats, who have become acculturated to the extreme left and who flatter themselves into thinking that their business acumen gives them political wisdom and authority (Soros, Bloomberg, Buffet), and Democratic politicians who see funneling money to the fat-cats as a sure way of instituting a one-party state.

To go after the pols, you will also have to go after the whole corrupt class of crony capitalists who support them.

Actually, the shooting has already started. It’s been going on for years now while TPTB keep calling the shooters “misfits,” “sociopaths” and now “terrorists.” The labeling has bee mostly successful in that it has kept the numbers down but as society in general gets more and more fed up with what is happening to America there will be an increase in the number of shooters.

After the OKC bombing the term “militia” became synonyous with “terrorist” and the few organized militias faded away. Now the movement has evolved into smaller, more mobile groups with little or no communication between them. While that makes it more difficult for them to act on a large scale it also makes it much more difficult for TPTB to infiltrate them.

As far as whether or not we will value our jobs and homes more than our liberty: Have you noticed the huge numbers of layoffs recently? Have you watched the foreclosures? I believe it was JFK who said something like ‘if you make peaceful revolution impossible, you make violent revolution inevitable.’ God help us all.
