none | 2/7/09 | Self

Ok 2/7/09 I am saying I am an internet addict. I spend every free hour on FR, Amazon, , news sites, various message boards, playing games or emailing friends. I go to bed at midnight and get up at 6:30 AM How much more rich could my life be if I get help and has anyone gone through counseling for this?

pick up a book.

An e-book, perhaps?

I'm so addicted, I bought me one of these:

It's got full Flash support, so even watch online streams with it.

I mean look on the bright side, at least you’re not addicted to porn.

Are you sure?

FR is full of articles about political prostitutes, obscene legislation and presidential nominees that have screwed the IRS....

Face it - politics today is about as pornographic as it gets!

:-)

I don’t own a laptop.

I am retired, and I try to take the car out for an erand at least once a day. That is my break from the Internet.

And a 1-day or 2-day auto trip always gets me off of the Internet and I end up thoroughly enjoying myself. Although I have my favorite motel/hotel brands which provide a laptop and Internet access in their lobbies — along with a free breakfast.

See, I have my priorities straight. lol

Get a Blackberry. Then at least you will be able to go outside. I am being serious. You may find yourself paying more attention to what is going on around you than you are the Blackberry. Eventually you will holster the Blackberry and begin to live again.

You seek help from the internet to cure you of the interenet???

good one, LOL.

Now, go to a bar to quit drinking, a grocery store to quit eating, and a brothel to quit having sex. Once that is done, you life will be perfect.

And for godsakes quit reading this!

Limit yourself to FR.

One stop shopping & real information.

Try getting laid more often.
Before you know it the computer and the Internet will be religated to the chores list ;-)

Spending so many hours sitting under UV rays and looking at a screen for hours full of jumping pixels is bad for us. I have to jerk myself up from time to time and just turn the thing off and GET AWAY from it. When I get to where I get up from the computer feeling draggy and dopey, then I know it’s time for me to take myself in hand. Do that for twenty-one days, get outside, go for a drive and get out and away from everything - and twenty-one days or less, you’ll break the habit. If you go back to it, limit the time you spend or you’ll have to do it all over again.

I have a blackberry thats how I get on FR during the workday it is blocked at work! lol.

Crackberry, Laptop, and a Desktop.

I do get outside, I tried fishing which was my biggest childhood passion, and found it lacking depth. I am used to having all the world’s news and encyclopedias etc right at my fingertips. unfortunately its mostly bad news for the last 12 months or so. But then again I met my wife on the internet too so it has enriched me with family and knowledge of the world but lately my legs are telling me to get up and turn this off. I turned it off for an hour after posting my thread. Thanks for all the funny or thoughtful responses everybody.

Grab yourself by the nape of the neck, ‘pick up your mat and walk.’ It is ‘what I want to do’ vs ‘what I should do.’ Willpower.

I am starting to justify my addiction by telling myself that when you leave the house these days it is costing you hundred’s of dollars. It takes money to do anything now days, LOL!
