This is a tale that should serve as a cautionary one to all that inhabit the Internet. It's all about the instant outrage, the ginned up hatred, the immediate immolation, that one sees so often infesting the left in our fair country. It shows how unhinged many there are. It started on the Huffington Post on February 19, when poster Alex Leo found what he thought was a video of John Gibson of Fox News saying that new Attorney General Eric Holder was like a monkey with a "bright blue scrotum." In reality, though, what Huffposter Leo found was a spoof video, not a real one, of someone else's words edited over the top of John Gibson's video.

It wasn't true. It was a fake. Regardless of the truth, however, the left-o-sphere went wild with faux outrage over the obviously "racist" John Gibson and his evil remarks. Within hours the tale had spread over to DailyKos, and other lefty bloggers as well as the site of supposed bastion of troof, Keith Olbermann. Even the profane folks at Wonkette went for the manufactured lie. Naturally, comments of outrage accompanied each posting on this fake story. (Thanks to JohhnyDollar for the work on this)

HuffPo is replacing DU and Kos as my favorite place to get a dose of liberal lunancy. DU seems to attract puppet people and aging hippies while Kos represents the Berkley crowd. HuffPo seems to get more average libs that I run into in daily life.

I was watching Fox when they were discussing this...it wasnt about Holder...some monkeys broke loose from a zoo, and the description by the authorities was that the monkeys had “blue scrotums”....Gibson wasnt mocking Holder

Though, I did get a kick out of Julie Banderas talking about “blue scrotums” (I will leave the rest to your imaginations) ;-)

At Wonkette, it has been pointed out that the video is a fake. One poster has already declared that fake or not, its still racist to juxtapose the “bright blue scrotum” comment next to the story about Eric Holder. Once again, the “fake but accurate” standard rears its ugly head.

The HuffPo has updated their story to state that the video is a fake but lib posters have their story and they’re sticking to it regardless.

If you go over there, a lot of the comments are in the vein of :

“Well, it still says something about Fox News that so many of us thought this COULD be true!”

Fits the “narrative”, dontcha know. Sort of like “Fake but accurate”.

It reminds me of Matt Damon being “concerned” about whether Sarah Palin really thought dinosaurs roamed the earth 4,000 years ago - after seeing a spoof video on some left-wing blog.

At the same time Eric Holder fed into this nonsense with his demand we all integrate our private lives and let him into our bedrooms to see what's going on.

Oh, yes, he primed the pump, and then along came the "blue scrotum" story, and it was downhill all the way.

I don't think we should simply blame the hoaxer and the stupidity of the Leftwingtards in this one ~ Eric shares ~ A LOT!
