Palin Would’ve Been ‘Wonderful’ In Media’s Eyes—Had She Hillary’s Views, Says Bernie Goldberg
CNS News ^ | 2/20 | Terence P. Jeffrey

Posted on 02/22/2009 7:32:11 PM PST by curth

Bernard Goldberg, who won multiple Emmies for his reporting at CBS and HBO, said in an interview with CNSNews.com that the mainstream media would have considered Sarah Palin “wonderful” had she held the same political views as Hillary Clinton.

Goldberg is author of the current New York Times Best Seller “A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (and Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.”

“Now if you took the exact same persona as Sarah Palin—we’re talking about a woman who has five kids, all these characteristics, she is the governor of an American state--and she had exactly the same political views as Hillary Clinton, what would the mainstream media think of her then?” CNSNews.com Editor in Chief Terry Jeffrey asked Goldberg.

“Oh, she would be wonderful wouldn’t she?” said Goldberg. “Can you imagine: She has five kids and she had a baby with Down Syndrome. I mean, that’s a courageous move. And, no, she didn’t go to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton, but she went from one college to another until she found just the one that suited her best. This is a wonderful, this is a wonderful story. So, what does it come down to? What does it come down to, Terry? One is a conservative and one isn’t.”

I’m convinced more than ever that....

POLITICS TRUMPS EVERYTHING!!

Race, Gender, Religion, Relationships, etc, etc.

When you get down to the essence of it, it makes all the sense in the world... for above all politics is about self-interest!

Absolutely!

Ditto for CAPITALISM!!

So why do Democrats excel at politics but turn to an IQ of 60 on ECONOMICS?

If she was just a Democrat, she would of been a media darling and in the White House today. But as a Republican to the media she is the enemy, she is evil and must be destroyed.

As a recovering liberal, Bernie views a lot of things we take for granted as news to him. The MSM hates all conservatives, Bernie. You’re finding that out for yourself as your former comrades now call you a “traitor”.

“So why do Democrats excel at politics but turn to an IQ of 60 on ECONOMICS?”

It’s not that simple...

There are three types of liberals. The utopians, i.e. the believers in a “fair” society, which to them means one where everyone is “equal”, so their self interest lies in redistributing wealth, they absolutely do not understand economics or don’t care, or if they do they prefer equal misery to unequal distribution of wealth because for them equality is what matters. I truly believe this is a congenital condition that’s very difficult to fix.

The second are the ones with the “guilt” syndrome, mostly comprised of rich whites and “intellectual” elites living in exclusive ghettos. They understand economics, but to relieve their guilt pangs are willing to vote to redistribute YOUR money to the “poor” to assuage their guilt. Some good psychotherapy could turn some of these cases around.

The third are the so called “poor” and any other group that receives government assistance in the form of money or preferential treatment. They probably understand economics, but are quite happy to live off the dole if people are stupid enough to let them. Their self interest is obvious. These are the easiest liberals to turn around, because they know full well what they’re up to - simply turning off the spigot would provide enough incentive for them to become productive citizens (and conservatives from then on).

Coming to think of it, there’s probably a fourth branch - the intellectually lazy who get easily brainwashed by the dominant propaganda, which is whatever the MSM dishes out. They’re incapable of independent thought, they definitely don’t understand economics or much of anything else that requires some thinking. Unfortunately today the MSM dishes out liberal propaganda, so they are liberals. To turn them around we would need to control the propaganda outlets, which we could do if conservatives were half as determined to change the world as liberals are.

The reason we’re not out to change the world is because conservatives believe in achieving their self interests mainly through their own individual efforts. Liberals on the other hand can only achieve their self interests by forcing OTHER people to behave in a particular way. Because of these different natures, I got a feeling we’re always going to be in a reactive mode.

Whatever other views she might have espoused, if Palin had been pro-choice on abortion, the media would have loved her. Or at least saw her as acceptable. Being pro-choice on abortion is the ultimate litmus test for being acceptable to the scribbling class...which is virtually all liberals.

"Republican""

As a conservative Reagan-Republican she is hated. If she were a squishy Lincoln Chaffee/Olympia Snowe/ Nelson Rockefeller type Pubbie, they'd have loved her. In short, if she were a Dem-lite Pubbie, she would have been acceptable.
