Glenn Greenwald of Salon.com seems to think that Bill Clinton's nonexistent boogie men, "the militias," are back. Why are they back? Because all white people are angry, racists that are mad that Obama got elected, of course. What else could have dredged up this fantasy from the depths of the liberal's worst nightmares of the 1990s? Somehow, though, it's a bit hard to imagine Greenwald's main premise considering the fact that millions of those same white Americans Greenwald so fears actually voted for Obama.
But, in an effort to scold Fox News for airing Glenn Beck's recent "War Room" segments, Greenwald indulged in precisely the same sort of behavior he claims Beck does, namely that of making wild, unsubstantiated claims about the "other" side.
Greenwald imagines that militias are again on the rise because Barack Obama is "an exotic other occupying the White House" and because the U.S. is a "declining imperial power," these things upsetting to gun-owning, white folks, apparently. Greenwald also scoffs at the "militia movement" that Clinton talked about in the 1990s because they "completely vanished" once George Bush became president in 2000, that this shows they really had no principles he says.
But, here is what he ignores: that this so-called militia movement didn't really exist in the way that the conspiracy minded Clinton White House tried to pretend that it did. The reality is that the Clintons, they of the "great right wing conspiracy" theory, saw enemies under their beds at night. And its no wonder because the Clinton's bed had enemies IN it, much less under it...

Sounds like he might be “lost in the sauce”
You are going to see a lot of this now. The 10th Amendment stuff and the BC issue. Unless conservatives break the back of TV news by cancelling cable and sat tv then we are headed towards serfdom. The newspapers are going under and we can counter the web and radio but all the TV netwroks will shill for Obama including Fox. O can start lining up Americans with firing squads and the TV news would justify it.
10 million conservatives cancel TV service then they might start to wake up. Hit them in the wallet.
Is he related to the equally weird Leftist Mandy Greenwald, who now has an administrative job in the BO putsch?
“hordes of overwhelmingly white, middle-aged men from suburban and rural areas who convinced themselves they were defending the American way of life from the liberals and leftists.
Well, its a start.
“....same sort of behavior he claims Beck does, namely that of making wild, unsubstantiated claims about the “other” side. ....”
Ummmm, let’s see, the MSM has been bashing every Christian, conservative and capitalistic ideal for at least 40 years!
Gosh, talk about double standards! The radicals are for free speech, only if they agree with it!
I hope I dont miss the militia meetings, I missed out on the Vast Right Wing conspiracy meetings./s
I wonder, Does Mr. Greenwald own a gun? It may come to the point where he wishes he had if these phantom “militias” actually exist.
First: Yes, Greenwald appears to be an idiot, or what.
Second: I, for one, did not “vanish” during the Bush administration. I fought anti-gun, anti-freedom, laws just as hard for the past 8 years as I did during the time of slick-Willie.
What a clown.
Maybe a return by Mark from Michigan is in the offing. Wouldn’t surprise me for some Marxist Dem to phony up a militia ID get a good, hard to locate shortwave and spout enough craziness to make everyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi look like Adolf Hitler. And would the network newsies pick up that story? You bet they would.
The real threat is muslim militias lurking in the sticks.
He must be going to stormfront too much.
"Other" and "Othering" are favorite terms of the Left, always applied to nonwhite "victims" of "racism."
The best was when several leftist sites denounced the "othering" of the Virginia Tech shooter.
These Marxist "useful idiots" can not believeshalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai
that it could be the lack of content of his character
and not the color of his skin.MLK
— “the militias,” are back. —
From his lips to God’s ears, as the saying goes.
Hillary spilling the beans about the "vast right wing conspiracy" so the idea could be turned into a joke was a miracle. We were closer than some would believe.
It would be surprising if the militias did not return. We need them. Not that they can do much constructively by themselves, but they are a necessary element, a piece in the jigsaw puzzle, in turning this country around and saving it from the path it is on. Armed deterrence, and the demonstration of firm resolve it reflects, is going to be needed when push comes to shove.
Please tell me you didn’t fall for this prancing schoolgirl’s rhetorical tantrum.
His comparison of the right’s reactions to Bush vs. Clinton is as breathtakingly vapid as those who maintain there is some internal contradiction to being pro-life and pro capital punishment.
