The failure to secure the border to prevent illegal drugs from entering into the United States from Mexico in the first place is inexusable. The Mexican drug cartels have established distribution networks and supply lines in at least 230 American cities, and the enforcement violence among the rival cells has been brutally incessant in Phoenix, Atlanta and Houston. The governors of Arizona and Texas have requested national guard troops to secure their borders only to be rebuffed by resident Barack Obama who "said that now is not the time to send troops":
"We've got a very big border with Mexico," Mr. Obama told a group of reporters in Washington. "I'm not interested in militarizing the border."
Isn't the primary job of the President to secure our national security?

How about stopping the flow of guns TO Mexico. I have heard the 75% of the guns used by the drug cartels are US made and smuggled into Mexico.
Huh? I am confused. The National Guard -— isn’t that the one that can be called up by the Governor in a state when there is en emergency? Oh yeah and it can be used Nationally as well. Why do they need Obambi’s permission to call up the Guard?
End the drug war and put the gangs and smugglers out of business.
That’s a load of crap.
Nobody is going to convince me that the guns in Mexico aren’t coming off of container ships through cartel controlled mexican ports. It doesn’t make sense that the cartels would choose piecemeal guns across the border at higher prices over cheap guns in bulk.
I’m suspicious of the 75 percent claim as well:

Mexican authorities contend that 75 percent of the guns they seize are American but inexplicably refuse to identify the serial numbers on the weapons to confirm the claim. Los Zetas, which provides paramilitary muscle for the Gulf Cartel, is run by former troops, and tens of thousands of cartel foot soldiers are deserters from the army. Given the rampant corruption within Mexico’s institutions its military and police may be likely sources for arming the drug cartels. One thing’s for sure: the hand grenades that Los Zetas is lobbing around are from North Korea. In any event, even if the United States were successful in stopping the illegal flow of all guns south of the border, the drug cartels are sufficiently cash rich that they would find replacement sources quick enough.
Yesterday, Joe Biden announced he appointment of the new Drug Czar, the Chief of Police in Seattle. I forget his name, so let’s just call him Chief Kurlicue (it sounds like that with a chek, on the end) . Anyway Joe Biden stated that it would be the job of the new Drug Czar to control the violence at the border. Interesting, don’t you think? It’s not the job of homeland security, it’s the Drug Czar’s job.
Anyway, Chief Kulicue, took the stage and stated that the drug war is really a matter of controlling America’s appetite for drugs. So, I guess we are back to, “Just say no to drugs.”

Oh, yeah, it worked so well when Nancy Regan led the DARE effort.

I can’t help it if drug scum are worthless morons who feed the violence in mexico and America. Not my fault, not my problem.
We spend billions a year to stop something that won't be stopped. Instead it gets worse. The real proboem is the war on drugs is counter to human nature and basic economic principles. Two very strong forces.
People are weak. So let's keep dumping billions a year down a rat whole trying to make them strong.
Be a lot cheaper if they’d man up and go to mexico where they can live in utopia because the violence would end as if magical elves fixed the problem.
No way, the only interest the Administration has in the issue is in using it as an excuse to ban guns right here. If you’ve been following the media wurlitzer, Mexican drug violence reports always end with the assertion that the guns are all coming from El Norte.
Just cranking up the propaganda machine. Do you even have to ask to know what Obama’s attitude is towards drug use?
And the ones off the ships are automatic assault weapons, the ones we sell here are only semi- auto.
Starting to sound like we have a gun grabber group right here at FR. Pretty sad that some choose drugs over guns.
I’ve always supported decriminalizing (not legalization) marijuana but the rabid irrationality of many pro legalization folks is driving me in exactly the opposite direction.
Shoot, just legalize marijuana and that will take away most of their income and make it harder for them to get their cocaine, meth and heroin to people. Mexican drug trafficking organizations supply most of the cocaine, meth and heroin consumed in this country but that's only several hundred tons compared to the many thousands of tons of marijuana they supply. Those other drugs just piggyback in on the marijuana and go through the same channels and end up in many cases being sold by the people at the bottom of the distribution chain selling the Mexican pot. Take marijuana from these people and that will deprive them of most of their income and one of their best ways to get drugs like cocaine, meth and heroin to end consumers. They'll end up being a lot smaller and less powerful and less of a threat, and pot smokers will have less exposure to the hard stuff so less will try any of it.
