The Barackistan credo is to seize upon every opportunity to exploit it and find yet another way to redistribute the wealth (taxpayer wealth, that is).
Next up on the agenda this week is the GIVE Act, short for the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act.
The ABC News headline GIVE Act Would Give Back. Volunteer Programs Would Provide Jobs to Unemployed, Assist Those in Need says it all.
In his address to Congress last month, President Barack Obama called on lawmakers to expand federally funded national service opportunities.
To encourage a renewed spirit of national service for this and future generations, I ask this Congress to send me the bipartisan legislation that bears the name of Sen. Orrin Hatch as well as an American who has never stopped asking what he can do for his country Sen. Edward Kennedy, the president said.

PING
If you want on (or off) the *PING* List, post on this thread or FReepMail me please.
Thanks joygrace for a great post of this upcomming legislation proposed by a fool, directed towards a nation almost, but not completly, filled with fools.
Will the MSM ping on the “Orrin Hatch” snipet? Methinksnot.
But then again, We already know as well as the next logical person, exactly how this is going to go:
Some ‘Republican’ will reject the expansion of government that this bill would surley ensure, that same republican will be labled as a racist/homophobe/segregationist, you know, a guy like Orrin Hatch.
The hipocracy, oh the hipocracy..
Bizarre.
To encourage a renewed spirit of national service for this and future generations, I ask this Congress to send me the bipartisan legislation... the president said.

From Øbama, who hates the America he see’s?
The brilliant Paul Weyrich (founder of Heritage Foundation) wrote a concise article in TownHall on the “Government Usurpation of Volunteerism” last year before “The Give Act” was defeated. It applies today.
“...Americans have actively and spontaneously engaged in civic and political life by forming voluntary associations. The emphasis is on the voluntary aspect of these organizations and their intention to affect change in government.
While all levels of government might have encouraged civic participation, the Federal Government did not create and fund its own voluntary societies, let alone micromanage them.
To do so would have had the reverse effect of the original intention of voluntary associations - it would have allowed politicians a unique means of manipulating public policy for their own agenda, ideological or otherwise.”
Any news on the schedule for the hearing? Is it back on the schedule for this week?
Ping list please.
Thanks,
Giving you a Ping for this thread.
