Posted on 03/28/2009 6:09:13 AM PDT by PJ-Comix
Ol' PJ here is perfectly happy with his drug of choice...caffeine. I simply can't function without several cups of java in the morning. Therefore I never felt a need for marijuana. Plus I am like Woody Allen in that scene from "Annie Hall." Any inhalation of smoke causes me to go into coughing fits so that pretty much nixes the use of the green weed for me. However, I don't have strong feelings one way or another about it although I suspect that it reduces mental ability over the long run. I've had friends that strongly support the legalization of marijuana. Some will claim that hemp can change this country for the better if only it were legalized. I don't know about this but the debate over the legalization of marijuana is changing the attitude of many DUmmies towards Barack Obama as you can see in this THREAD, "I'm going to change my party affiliation after what obama did." And what Obama did was oppose the legalization of marijuana which was blasphemy in the eyes of many DUmmies. So let us now watch the DUmmies getting all worked up over Obama and the green weed in distinctly non-green Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, who needs to "inhale" at least three cups of caffeine daily in order to keep his article output flowing, is in the [barackets]:
I'm going to change my party affiliation after what obama did.
[Let me guess. You're going to switch to the Green Party?]
agricultural hemp would be immediately a 1/4 Trillion dollar industry, even before it frees us from foreign oil, THAT IS WHY IT IS ILLEGAL.. !! BEST, CLEANEST RENEWABLE BIO-DIESEL THERE IS. then there is the building materials, chemicals/resin/plastics, non toxic base for oil paint, textiles, animal feed, human food, fiber for clothes, non acid paper..
[And don't forget it's invaluable use as brownie filler.]
I agree with the whole "let's end the drug war, let's tax it, let's have it for medicine and fuel and fabric" idea, but start a new single-issue party that doesn't have a chance in hell of beating Democrats or Republicans in any but a tiny number of races? How does this work?
[Just take a big hit on the bong and worry about all that later.]
we got screwed by Obama, badly
[For Ben Burch that would be a positive.]
I'm done with him, We The People are being betrayed in so many ways:
-- mj/hemp -- no backing for legalization
-- war in Afghanistan
-- no prosecution of war criminals/traitors/blatant lawbreakers
-- health care -- single-payer "would raise taxes" so it's out
-- handover of our tax dollars to wealthy welfare recipients for jets, yachts, "bonuses"
-- "bipartisan" bullshit that simply dilutes any effort at progressive legislation
-- DLC/fake Democrat/right wing appointees
-- retention of as many of bushco's lawyers in DOJ as wanted to stay
-- continuation of rendition, and Guantanamo detainees still held without being charged
-- calling Chavez a "terrorist" instead of taking the golden opportunity to enjoy a good relationship with our neighbors to the south = ASININE
If you're not a billionaire, just as with *, you don't count, and if it doesn't have to do with war war war war war and Wall Street, it doesn't count.
this was a "community organizer"? community of bankers, perhaps.
[It sounds like you really need the legalization of marijuana in order that you can take those many bong hits just to forget your betrayal by Obama.]
I feel the same way.
[Just breath deeply the secondary smoke emitted by the previous DUmmie.]
I'm pissed too... You list several issues that are important as well...Single Payer Health care is a big issue, but looks like we're gonna get the shaft on that as well....hey!Can't go pissing off the big money people.
[For Ben Burch, getting the shaft is a good thing.]
What I fear is that some of the talking heads are right. Obama is a cult to some like Bush was to the Freeps.
[We pledge our sacred fealty to our Blessed Master, the Emperor Chimpus Khan.]
There is apparently no disagreeing with Obama on DU. If you do disagree you are being petty and your outrage is "faux". Just because there is no real case for keeping pot illegal, just because every single argument can be refuted in the blink of an eye, just because Obama is DEAD F*CKING WRONG about this issue, doesn't mean you are allowed to say that. No we have to be good little Dems and march in f*cking lock step or... or... or... someone might call us names on DU!!!! I've stayed away from here for a few months and came back to being called a lazy whiny pothead. Well that's good enough for me, it's on DU so it must be true.
[Perhaps you should form a Lazy Whiny Pothead caucus and lobby Obama on this issue. I even have your slogan: "Bongs, NOT Bombs!"]
I was annoyed at the way he handled the question yesterday. He could have given the same answer without being flip and dismissive. Now I see he completely and purposely mis-characterized the question into something totally different. That was completely unnecessary and harmful. Very disappointing to say the least.
[Don't blame Barack. Blame his teleprompter.]
The thing that bugs me about this is that Bush, or whoever the hell was in charge, was able to do just about any goddamned thing he wanted to do, any goddamned time he wanted to do it, and f*ck anybody who didn't like it. Those pricks did whatever the hell they wanted for 8 years. I'd like to see the Democrats get just a little ruthless for once.
[Would it make you feel better if they sent out roving Chekhist squads to liquidate EVIL Republicans between bong hits?]
No. What's asinine is the mindset that Chavez was NOT a terrorist.
And people will die.
Top ten & back to read.
You're a "lazy whiny pothead." Now it's on Free Republic also. Must be true.
They’ll never get high the same way again.
Hey PJ, been meaning to ask. Any news on that DUmmie’s son that had the Blackjack “system”?
Dunno. Maybe franksolich has the answer.
Is that spam?
Agricultural hemp and the stuff people smoke are two totally different things. Not allowing agricultural hemp is pretty asinine.
Lobbyists for big cotton and big synthetics undoubtedly got that rammed through by liberal applications of cash!
I don't think Bush was a cult here. Maybe to some people, but there were/are plenty of Bush bashers. The immigration disaster and spending like a drunk sailor come to mind.
[Perhaps you should form a Lazy Whiny Pothead caucus and lobby Obama on this issue. I even have your slogan: "Bongs, NOT Bombs!"]
Looks like there are a number of DUmmies who just cannot stay away from the trashyard. The ants are getting restless.
Figures he would oppose one of the few good ideas the liberals have.
MJ is illegal because of pure greed and ignorance.
If you read the transcript of the 1937 House debate for a Marihuana Stamp Act, you will laugh at how utterly stupid the decision was. It was debated for all of 2 minutes.
The word Marihuana was invented to cover up the ban of hemp. Instead of saying ban hemp to the House they said ban this evil Mexican drug called Marihuana.
One cotton-owned researcher claimed to have injected HIMSELF and 300 dogs with the evil marihuana, resulting in many of their deaths. It is impossible to even convert hemp into an inject-able form so the testimony was a flat out lie.
A narcotics bureau officer testified that it causes violence and death without citing a single case. He also testified that it causes black men to seek white women.
Dr. William C. Woodward, a lawyer and chief counsel for the American Medical Association testified, The American Medical Association knows of no evidence that marijuana is a dangerous drug. And also that making it illegal or taxing would stifle research into medical uses. Drug makers such as Eli and Squibb already had legitimate and profitable drugs available derived from hemp. The quote is here- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,153722,00.html
The only two negative and false testimonies came from the people who benefit most from prohibition- cotton and law enforcement industries. Follow the money.
Couldn’t help but think of this while I was reading this DUFU:
Prudish freepers for a drug free police state showing up here in support for the continued, failed, unAmerican war on drugs. This is the issue that may split away the conservatives from us libertarians (aka rinos).
Sorry P-J but I’m for hemp farming. Hemp was Missouri’s number one cash crop before the drug war. Now I’m talking industrial hemp for rope, paper, oils, and clothing. So please, don’t lump that hemp with marijuana.
It’s the female plant that people smoke, high THC level. The industrial hemp plants have thousands of usage and the THC level is so low you’d have to smoke an entire farm to get a buzz and by the time you did, you’d have died from the headache.
Do you by chance recall the primitive's name? I recall it was posted in my base of operations too, but I'm really busy--income tax work and planning for a "tea party" on April 15 out here where there's more cattle than people--and it would have to wait until this weekend's over, like Monday evening or sometime Tuesday.
I'm always happy to be of service, via either public comment or personal message.
No wonder Obama won. The ignorance is so heavy among these dimwits, LOL.
Oh, JUST GREAT!
It's bad enough to keep your toddlers from eating the paint because of lead, now you'll have to keep your teenager from licking the walls because of the hemp....
And you thought smoking burlap was bad....
It was an immigration law, without actually passing an immigration law. It was enacted in order to create a way to send Mexicans back to Mexico after harvest was over. Deportation after breaking a law was on the books on the Federal level, but most of immigration was handled at the state level at the time. Border states wanted Federal help, but non-border states didn’t want to cede power to the Fed, so they picked an attribute common to Mexicans, not common to non-Mexicans & made it illegal.
The DUmmie with the son with a Blackjack system was/is Billy Burnett. Claimed his son was making a fortune at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.
Reagan was actually ambivalent about pot, at least as far as adults were concerned, according to his book of pre-Presidency radio speeches.
And that's why you voted for him, jerk. Now you're just beginning to wake up to the fact he doesn't care for you or about you. Never has, never will.
Billie Burnett has been quiet about that since then. Maybe the light of discovery has silenced him.
Ha. You’re probably right.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2189699/posts — Last fall during a nationally televised presidential debate, Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare that he opposed decriminalizing marijuana. (first video). But as a candidate for the U.S. Senate four years ago, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, according to a videotape of a little noticed debate that was obtained by The Washington Times. “I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws,” Mr. Obama told an audience during a debate at Northwestern University in 2004. “But I’m not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana.” (second video).
