Agricultural hemp and the stuff people smoke are two totally different things. Not allowing agricultural hemp is pretty asinine.

Lobbyists for big cotton and big synthetics undoubtedly got that rammed through by liberal applications of cash!

What I fear is that some of the talking heads are right. Obama is a cult to some like Bush was to the Freeps.

I don't think Bush was a cult here. Maybe to some people, but there were/are plenty of Bush bashers. The immigration disaster and spending like a drunk sailor come to mind.

I've stayed away from here for a few months and came back to being called a lazy whiny pothead. Well that's good enough for me, it's on DU so it must be true.

[Perhaps you should form a Lazy Whiny Pothead caucus and lobby Obama on this issue. I even have your slogan: "Bongs, NOT Bombs!"]

Looks like there are a number of DUmmies who just cannot stay away from the trashyard. The ants are getting restless.

Obummer has been a failure on everything. I thought abolishing prohibition would be the only good thing to come out of this administration but I was wrong. Absolute...100%...Failure

MJ is illegal because of pure greed and ignorance.

If you read the transcript of the 1937 House debate for a “Marihuana Stamp Act”, you will laugh at how utterly stupid the decision was. It was debated for all of 2 minutes.

The word “Marihuana” was invented to cover up the ban of hemp. Instead of saying “ban hemp” to the House they said “ban this evil Mexican drug called Marihuana”.

One cotton-owned researcher claimed to have injected HIMSELF and 300 dogs with the evil ‘marihuana’, resulting in many of their deaths. It is impossible to even convert hemp into an inject-able form so the testimony was a flat out lie.

A narcotics bureau officer testified that it causes violence and death without citing a single case. He also testified that it causes black men to seek white women.

Dr. William C. Woodward, a lawyer and chief counsel for the American Medical Association testified, “The American Medical Association knows of no evidence that marijuana is a dangerous drug.” And also that making it illegal or taxing would stifle research into medical uses. Drug makers such as Eli and Squibb already had legitimate and profitable drugs available derived from hemp. The quote is here- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,153722,00.html

The only two negative and false testimonies came from the people who benefit most from prohibition- cotton and law enforcement industries. Follow the money.

Prudish freepers for a drug free police state showing up here in support for the continued, failed, unAmerican war on drugs. This is the issue that may split away the conservatives from us libertarians (aka rinos).

Sorry P-J but I’m for hemp farming. Hemp was Missouri’s number one cash crop before the drug war. Now I’m talking industrial hemp for rope, paper, oils, and clothing. So please, don’t lump that hemp with marijuana.

It’s the female plant that people smoke, high THC level. The industrial hemp plants have thousands of usage and the THC level is so low you’d have to smoke an entire farm to get a buzz and by the time you did, you’d have died from the headache.

Hey PJ, been meaning to ask. Any news on that DUmmie’s son that had the Blackjack “system”?

Do you by chance recall the primitive's name? I recall it was posted in my base of operations too, but I'm really busy--income tax work and planning for a "tea party" on April 15 out here where there's more cattle than people--and it would have to wait until this weekend's over, like Monday evening or sometime Tuesday.

I'm always happy to be of service, via either public comment or personal message.

then there is the building materials, chemicals/resin/plastics, non toxic base for oil paint, textiles, animal feed, human food, fiber for clothes, non acid paper.

Oh, JUST GREAT!

It's bad enough to keep your toddlers from eating the paint because of lead, now you'll have to keep your teenager from licking the walls because of the hemp....

And you thought smoking burlap was bad....

It was an immigration law, without actually passing an immigration law. It was enacted in order to create a way to send Mexicans back to Mexico after harvest was over. Deportation after breaking a law was on the books on the Federal level, but most of immigration was handled at the state level at the time. Border states wanted Federal help, but non-border states didn’t want to cede power to the Fed, so they picked an attribute common to Mexicans, not common to non-Mexicans & made it illegal.

The DUmmie with the son with a Blackjack system was/is Billy Burnett. Claimed his son was making a fortune at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.

Reagan was actually ambivalent about pot, at least as far as adults were concerned, according to his book of pre-Presidency radio speeches.

And that's why you voted for him, jerk. Now you're just beginning to wake up to the fact he doesn't care for you or about you. Never has, never will.

Billie Burnett has been quiet about that since then. Maybe the light of discovery has silenced him.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2189699/posts — [2007] Last fall during a nationally televised presidential debate, Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare that he opposed decriminalizing marijuana. (first video). But as a candidate for the U.S. Senate four years ago, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, according to a videotape of a little noticed debate that was obtained by The Washington Times. “I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws,” Mr. Obama told an audience during a debate at Northwestern University in 2004. “But I’m not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana.” (second video).
