Adventures in P.C. Land: How Could the Recession Have Been Avoided? Should've Practiced Islam

How would you react to a newspaper printing a glowing page-one above-the-fold story with the headline blaring:“If everybody observed Christianity, there would be no recession.”

Or this:“If everybody followed the Ten Commandments, there would be no crime, no murder, and no adultery.”

(Perish the thought. We can’t even have the Ten Commandments on public buildings anymore!)

Or how about this one:“If everybody was Halachah (Jewish law)-compliant, there would be no global warming.”

After all, what could be more environmentally friendly than abstaining from using electricity for a full day once a week?

I know how most of you on the Left would react: You’d be calling those newspapers screaming, “How dare you try to impose your religious values on me!!!!” right before cancelling your subscription to said paper.

OK, then. Question: When is it all right for a major media outlet to endorse a religious practice or dogma?

Answer: When that religion is Islam.

At least, that’s what seems to be the case with the Sacramento Bee. At today’s Front Page Mag, Lloyd Billingley writes:

Cool! So the next head line will be “If we followed Sharia law there would be no AIDS, because filthy homos would be executed”. Right?

Honestly, I am in good financial shape because the only common sense part of Sharia is when it comes to finance.

Conservative, long term thinking. Not the gambling that Wall St turned into the past few years with CDOs and default swaps

I have 0 debt, have saved plenty of money, and just got a pretty big raise by switching companies

More so because I think I took a common sense approach to my personal finance, which is the only part of Shaira that is fairly common sense based.

I am actually amused this is being covered now, because these practices have been around Muslim communities in North America for a couple decades now

Thanks for sharing your story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I disagree with the Islamic approach to finances. It’s the implication by the PC SacBee that financial responsibility and restraint are somehow exclusive to Sharia (and are missing in Judaism and Christianity, the practice of which the paper would never endorse.

I agree and can see the point you are trying to make.

It again amuses me because a) this has been around for decades in the US and b) despite what many Muslims think, liberals are no friends to Muslims in the US. They are johnny come lately to find out about us because it adds another “victim” against the right, the assumption being that the Bush years were “bad” for Muslims in the US when nothing could be farther from the truth

What the Bush years did for Muslims was finally point out that we need to weed out, isolate and destroy those amongst us who have no intention of living within civilized society.

By every concievable metric the lot of Muslims got better during the Bush years in the United States.

Liberals, newspapers and the media try and portray this as not having occurred and then write articles such as these, which would have been just as relevant during the S&L crises. Its all an effort to create another “victimized” group to be used by the left
