Obama's Been To London To Visit The Queen
The Stiletto Blog ^ | April 1, 2009 | The Stiletto

President Barack Obama met Queen Elizabeth II and presented her with an iPod that was pre-loaded with a video of the first lady’s 30-minute arm-toning routine, complete with the peppy Broadway show tunes that keep MO motivated to go for the burn. Perhaps her expectations lowered by the gift of state presented to PM Gordon Brown, the Queen didn’t exactly go all out either: She gave the Obamas the same signed portrait of herself and Prince Philip that everyone else gets.

obama giving an ipod is still such an insult in terms of official state visit gifts.

A new take on the old nursery rhyme:

Wussy Prez, Wussy Prez, where have you been?

“I’ve been to London to look at the Queen.”

Wussy Prez, Wusy Prez, what did you there?

“I gave her an I-pod and quite a good scare!”

The gift to him is for real. The gift to her is mostly real (clicking on the links will help you figure out what the April Fool’s prank is).

Arm-toning video? Hey, there, Queen, here’s how to tone your 80+ year-old arms. Why not a video of the cute daughters saying something nice to the Queen instead? Better yet, why not just give a nice family photo? It would’ve been both a bit of history and a personal memento.

Who else would it be appropriate to give an iPod to? Queen Elizabeth? What are you, a peasant?

Somebody in the Bush Administration did their homework. One cannot know what will be appreciated but those gifts sound appropriate.

The first time I heard of this ipod gift, I thought the radio person reporting it was pulling an April Fools Prank. Nope, it’s all true. The Usurper is a first class putz. A little kid could come up with a more appropriate gift for Queen Elizabeth. What must she think of him? She’s been around, she knows good character from bad. How utterly embarrassing for our country to have this moron parading around as president.

Forgot to check for humor in keywords.

As an only child, I despise April Fools’ Day.

Don’t forget, he also uploaded his own speeches on the Ipod.

And no, I’m not joking.

Yep. Pretty surreal isn’t it? I mean it’s like that movie “How to lose a guy in 10 dates” or whatever and Obama is going out of his way to be a jerk to the UK.

It would be interesting to know if he violated any of the onerous copyright laws by giving the ipod with content on it.
