I've never understood the Any Rand thing. Adam Smith said it better and with fewer words.

I tend to agree with the Randites, but it's all a little too L. Ron Hubbard for me.

“Atlas Shrugged” is not a fun read but if people are still reading English in 500 years this is one of the few books from the 20th century that will still exist.

I read this years ago.

I had a business that did 4 million a year. It got to be so much hassle I shut it down and work by myself now.

I have a lot more time to do what I want.

I see others doing the same.

“Who is John Galt?”, will be prominently displayed on one of my signs at the tea-party, in front of the Capitol Building in Michigan. Also going to work in a sign saying FREE the REPUBLIC.

It is going to be a hoot!

From the artticle:

Rand was a Platonist at heart. She lived not in the real world (like Aristotle did), but in Plato's world

You mean, like me and Middle Earth?

bump and ping

“One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary.” — Ayn Rand

Where is John Galt?

Like Prince Charming he is a figure of myth that people wait for rather then rolling up their sleeves and getting to work themselves on their problems.

The "Great and Perfect Leader that shall unite us all" does not exist either. We have to work with what we have.

The sooner we learn this the better off we will be.

STARVE THE BEAST!

Atlas Shrugged ping!

Where is John Galt?

Thus true patriotism begins with you. It begins with all of us. Ayn Rand was a monumental genius. She saw clearly the consequences of fascist anti-capitalist liberalism in the halcyon days of the 1950s. We are now in 2009 living in the world of Atlas Shrugged - but without John Galt.

Unless each of us takes responsibility for our own fate and chooses to be our own John Galt. Look inside yourself. That's where you'll find him.

We are not in need of John Galt, what the country needs is Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin, George Washington.

While the book is a great read, I’ve read it three times, it’s solution is no longer viaable.

Almost all the people who might have been John Galt have gone through 12+ years of our schooling system. They’re no longer a threat to Obama and his minions.

I have a “Who is John Galt?” bumper sticker on my vehicle. I have been approached many times by people who are interested in where I got it. It has sparked one person in St. Louis to leave a note in my vehicle (slipped it in a cracked open window) that extolled the virtues of John Galt. He even left me his cell number so I could call and tell him where I got the sticker...lol.

Rand’s book is the most relevant piece of literature for our time now that has ever been written.
