Clifford Asness, the brains behind the $9 Billion Dollar hedge fund, AQR Capital Management, isn't involved in the Chrysler mess, but he was appalled by Obama's treatment of his colleagues, so he had to make a stand. He wrote this letter which appears below to President Obama, defending the non-Tarp Chrysler investors and his industry in general. A copy of the letter has been making the "rounds" within the investment community, and finally landed in New York Mag. The letter is a well-reasoned, strongly worded "F**K You to the President. Something tells me that Mr. Asness is going to have a major IRS audit very soon. Read the letter below:

Ya know, I have to wonder if some of this guy’s drive comes from his determination to overcome the teasing he MUST have endured over his last name.
Oh Oh the Carville Smear Machine is gonna come after this guy.
I like the ending: “I’m ready for my personalized tax rate now.”
As time goes by, others in America are going to wake up and find their cajones to speak out as well.
Could get loud, eventually.

“Shaking down lenders for the benefit of political donors is recycled corruption and abuse of power.”
Good on him!!! Courage my friend!!!!! There are people out here rooting you guys and gals on.
This is so so wrong, there are no words....
We were talking this morning at work, and the subject of what is going on came up. I told my fellow co-workers that I loved my country more than anything...God, Country and Family, and how heartbroken I am....then I broke down and cried.
They really did not know how to respond...I said I was sorry I am just so upset at what is happening to our beloved country...
“The TARP recipients had no choice but to go along. The hedge funds were singled out only because they are unpopular, not because they behaved any differently from any other ethical manager of other people’s money. The Presidents comments here are backwards and libelous. Yet, somehow I dont think the hedge funds will be following ACORNs lead and trucking in a bunch of paid professional protestors soon. Hedge funds really need a community organizer.
This is America. We have a free enterprise system that has worked spectacularly for us for two hundred plus years. When it fails it fixes itself. Most importantly, it is not an owned lackey of the oval office to be scolded for disobedience by the President.
I am ready for my personalized tax rate now.”
I like this guy. I could also use some of his money but, more power to him!
Our enemies are now embraced as our new friends. Our allies are being shut out or at least, insulted.
This president (and his willing band of cohorts) are not so subtlety making this once great nation a joke — economically, politically and diplomatically.
Is this really happening?
Very well done... posted it on my tweet

This guy just wrecked his career and likely his finances.
Shmo’s like Joe the Plumber get castigated in the press. People with money get ruined financially.
Congrats to this brave thinker indeed. But good luck.
Who in their right mind will EVER buy corporate bonds in the US again after this? I know I won’t. I won’t invest in government paper either. There are no rules, no law, just naked power. Welcome to the Third World.
