Cap and trade bill includes unemployment benefits - Largest tax increase in history.

At first glance this just seems like more of the usual Washington shuck-n-jive. However, when one considers the implications of this, it becomes apparent that the writers of the cap and trade bill are very clearly aware that this bill will cost thousands of jobs. So much so that unemployment benefits for those losing their jobs because of it will go for THREE YEARS, 156 weeks. Obviously they are not expecting these hapless folks to find new work easily! The Washington examiner reports that these victims of Washington DC legislation and Congress will get 80% of their insurance premiums paid, a 1500$ relocation allowance, and job search expenses of up to 1500$.

If this is an energy bill… which by the way, is being sold as legislation that will create higher paying “Green” jobs, in higher numbers than those lost, then what are unemployment benefits for up to three years doing in it?

If this is not worthy of every single American rising up in total revolt, then I am going to sincerely consider... something. I don't know what, because it won't be possible to live and prosper in the United States.

Fantastic article. The best one I have seen on the cap and trade legislation now wending its way thru Congress.

Yeah, by the time people who aren’t Freepers and actually care about what is going on or wake up and realize Socialism/Fascism isn’t exactly what they thought, it will be too late.

Perhaps many of the displaced workers will not be on the preferential hiring list for the new ‘green’ jobs. 3 years’ UI, then it’s permanent underclass for those not toeing the Party line.

Next election we can stop the damage in the Congress. Then we need a wild ass libertarian type with a conservative congress to repeal all this nonsense and more to get out of debt.

The choice in the next presidential election - raise taxes and lose more jobs or turn it back and get free again. Finally, we could get rid of the Department of Education and other useless agencies. Think positive! Cause I sure am having a hard time in that department. :(

Excellent article!

What a great country this was before the oligarchs in Congress murdered it.

The easiest way to kill this is to add an amendment that does away with the 1986 rules banning machine guns.

At the current rate we will spend 26 Trillion in the first year of the Obama regime. Yep killing the economy is the agenda and they are doing a fine job of it.

Next to go are commercial real estate and the dollar. Nope that’s not right it’s Chrysler and General Motors. Well you know what they say a while back, General Motors is the bell weather stock. As goes General Motors so goes the nation. In other words -

“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

—Winston Churchill

2186A engrossed is in the senate now, there was a public hearing on it on Thursday. I don’t know the outcome of that. But I know that there is yet a chance to shoot that hairy ball of cat-puke down!

Did you see the speed reader at the hearing? If the GOP members don't rise up in righteous anger over this boondoggle of a proposal, we'll have to form a powerful prayer circle till 2010 arrives with a flock of newly elected CONSERVATIVES!

For now, here are contact numbers for the despicable chair Waxman:

Los Angeles numbers: Telephone (310) 652-3095; Fax (323) 655-0502
