Independent Voters Abandoning Obama In DROVES
Fox News /WSJ/The Lid ^ | 6/23/09 | The Lid

In most elections it is the independent voter deciding the outcome. And now "independents" are the largest political party. Just read this transcript from the above video:

Now let's the put the Democratic line up there: You see the Democrats started at 39. It slowed down all the way to 33. They're actually losing more than the Republicans are, but they're on the same path to hell.

Now, let me show you the independents. Here's the independent line — remember I told you they were about to cross? Look at this. They crossed and now are up to 39 percent. This is the first time — it hasn't been like this in 70 years since we have been taking this poll.

As people are moving from the "traditional party" ranks, the independent voter is becoming even more important. And that independent voter is racing away from the president as fast as they can:

Yeah, it kind of makes a person despair of the electoral process.

People get the government they deserve.
And I know that I am better equipped to weather the brutal financial and social upheaval that is still coming.

I disagree.
They certainly have problems with various members of the GOP, but PART of the reason Obama is doing poorly is that the Republicans have been, pretty much, unified in their opposition to ObamaNation.

The left LOVES to say “Bush deficits” “Bush tax cuts” blah blah, but revenue went UP under Bush.
Revenue is going DOWN under Obama.

Also, the Obama spending dwarfs anything that Bush did, and Obama voted for nearly all of Bush's spending, in his 2 years in the Senate.

Flippers. Despicable.

This is what comes from not having PRINCIPLES in the first place. You'll fall for any slick talking shyster to come along and change sides every time the wind blows.

That’s like saying “Man who stepped on land mine yesterday really regrets it today”

Sorry, these bungholes should have figured things out last year and not voted for BO in the first place—some mistakes you learn from and move on from, but some are too big, like this-these people have brought our great country to the brink of ruin.

Only bright spot is—hopefully enough people wake up and join those who weren’t asleep at the wheel to fight for our country from the vermin (both inside and outside the U.S.) who are trying to destroy it. I honestly don’t know if the U.S. (as we have known it) will survive all this, but maybe this whole thing will function as an enema, and flush out the waste, and maybe this time we can stay with the principles our Maker and our Founding Fathers gave us to follow—it worked pretty well before.

The thing is, they have no faith in the cuurent GOP either.

AND, they shouldn't have faith in them because the majority of the RINOs that run the party are as crooked at the dimwits.

If you really want a barf alert, look for the Esquire Magazine issue that came out after the election. Several of their “writers” served up some major league horsecrap. I don’t think they’d cover The Second Coming as breathlessly. Pretentious twaddle-and that’s putting it mildly—and laced with hatred for those of us who “lost” that day. (Actually, we all lost that day)

I don’t think the Onion could come up with a parody with more sickening drivel. I couldn’t believe these were adults. I wonder how they feel now—and methinks we ain’t seen nothin’ yet.....

I don’t have any patience for this buyer’s remorse stuff. People who voted for him and now have second thoughts had access to the same information last summer that everyone else did. Now we’re in the soup.

My stock answer when I hear the buyer's remorse from anybody who voted for zero is to say: "Well, Rush Limbaugh warned you".

It is then a great pleasure to watch them go bonkers with nothing to reply or retort.

It was a pretty good idea to only allow property owners to vote. Maybe only tax payers should vote. I suggest that instead of withholding...you are forced to mail one check every year. On the back of it you write down who you want as your representative/senator/president...etc. Things would change right quick.

Most people who identify as “independant” really mean “I have no clue except what the media tells me”.

No problem. They’ll be back aboard the bus by the next election.

GOP seems to stand for “Gee, Obama’s Popular” (”and I want to be too”).

I'm suspicious of any author who plays fast and loose with the facts: “... which was a principal reason Mr. Obama became the first Democrat to win a majority of the popular vote in a presidential election in 32 years.”

I think anyone that follows politics recalls that Al Gore won a majority of the popular vote in the 2000 election — but the wisdom of the founding fathers in making sure the smaller states would not be disenfranchised by creating the Electoral college spared us a Gore presidency.

I'm against disenfranchising any competent citizen. However, having a tax system where 45% of the citizenship do not monetarily contribute toward the running of the country or its defense is a recipe for disaster. From here on out, any increase in the Federal budget above it's present level (adjusted for inflation) should be required to be financed with a national sales tax. That way even democrat voters should be able to see the correlation between government spending and the taxes they have to pay.

I think you are right and I think that tendency was clearly manifested in the sentiments expressed at the various tea parties.

America was perfectly designed, albeit by accident, to operate with a two-party system. It does not function properly in a third-party environment. The Republicans during the Bush years forfeited their role within the two-party system as they shed their identity like a snake skin. The result is that the Republicans have no credibility, no standing to complain about spending. The Iraq affair so muddied the waters that they lost their edge for national defense. And George Bush managed too often to embrace liberals like Teddy Kennedy, thus compromising Republicans standing on the social issues.

The Republican implosion happened at a time when demographics moved inexorably to favor Democrats. We will never know whether a steadfast Republican president and Congress might have overcome the daunting challenge of arithmetic. So the Democrats, predictably, have now taken over every branch of power and, equally predictably, are overplaying their hand and causing a reaction in the electorate.

Equally unknowable is whether any Republican could have defeated Barak Obama in his campaign to become the iconic first African-American president. It may well be that the Obama pathology was incurable.

The Republicans have not recovered their footing and found the courage to lead the resistance against an icon, even a Manchurian Marxist, who is overreaching. Until they do, the country will look for third-party solutions. As long as the country flirts even as daydreams with a third-party, Obama and the Democrats will stay in power. If the Republican party does not soon find its soul, Obama and the Democrats will stay in power.

The grumblings IMHO are growing louder and louder. If jobs don’t start to appear by the end of summer I truely think we will se a sharp reversal in all of the polls where 58%+ disapprove of him and his polices. Now that they have figured out what the “change” was they are rapidly losing “hope”!
