I hope you don't mind me taking the liberty to address you by your first name. I just thought it would be a good idea for us to get off on the right foot - as good friends instead of just Supreme Leaders of our respective countries.
First, I want to apologize for the shabby treatment you and your people have received from my predecessors, our intelligence agencies, our military, and our media. I respect the fact that you have an ancient and proud culture and strong faith in God who guides you in your moral judgment and leadership. Your proud lineage dates back to the Achaemenids who, as followers of Zoroaster (albeit a false prophet) adopted policies of human rights, equality and banned slavery in all the lands they conquered. I know that Iran was the site of the world's first windmill in the 9th century - pioneering renewable energy. Your people learned ways to collect and store fresh water, making peace with a desert environment. Iranians excelled in the sciences of mathematics, astronomy, and medicine, paving the way for our own space exploration and universal provision of health care.
We have nothing but the deepest respect for the Islamic Republic. It is not our place to pass judgment on facets of your society which we would otherwise consider "oppressive" or "evil." We both understand that such hateful words only serve to drive a wedge between us, making it impossible to engage in meaningful discussions. Please know that I know you mean well because I have faith that you are a man of God and a compassionate soul. I offer you my hand of friendship and ask for both of us to proceed with a clean slate.
You and I are not so different. Both of us want revolutionary change for our people, removing the troubles and whims of the free market which plague their minds and destroy their hopes. We both know that it takes a mighty hand to right wrongs and preserve peace.
My nation was the first and only nation to use nuclear power for destructive purposes, and for that we bear eternal shame. We will henceforth renounce even the peaceful use of nuclear power as we have demonstrated the lack of wisdom to use it properly. The United States will not, however, stand in the way of your peaceful intentions for nuclear power. We only ask, kindly, that you request Mr. Achmadinejad to tone down the rhetoric of "wiping Israel off the face of the map." It puts me, personally, in a rather precarious position to come to the verbal defense of Israel on behalf of the 80% of American Jews who voted for me and also please my many followers who consider Israel a terrorist state which is persecuting innocent Palestinians.
I would relish the opportunity to sit down with you, without preconditions, to discuss these matters in person. My family and I would love the opportunity to tour the historic land which was once the most powerful empire on Earth.

If, next month, there are a few people who disagree with "irregularities" in your elections, please understand that democracy can sometimes be a little messy but after a while cooler heads will prevail and flared tempers will ease. It is my hope you will demonstrate the same restraint I have shown in dealing with the shrill complaints of my adversaries. It does not require armed force to quell such disorders. You need only drive forward with your ambitions and plans to forge a future more to your liking. Peace, prosperity, equality and justice are only a matter of political will.
