No, I called the Reagan Library and they told me, “Call the Simi Valley Republican Women’s group. WE are not taking reservations.”
Did not find SVRWF from 4-1-1.
I’ve sent two emails to them; no response yet.
I’ve sent emails to the Republican group as well — for verification that this is actually happening, and have not had any response, either.
Ive sent emails to the Republican group as well for verification that this is actually happening, and have not had any response, either.I am fairly confident that it **is** going to happen -- but that the Simi Valley group were not expecting to get so much attention, having planned this event since LONG before Sarah Palin's recent surprise announcement -- so they are hunkering down, and keeping it as quiet as they can.
Since we believe that MANY people will want to support Sarah -- and for whatever reason cannot go to the dinner -- we are working on a way to help support Sarah ANY WAY that we can.For now, some of the best advance information that I have found is here, from www.venturacountystar.com:For now, the plan is to gather along the road at the entrance to the Reagan Library -- with AMERICAN FLAGS, and positive signs -- to show our support.
I plan to put up a thread tomorrow -- to solicit SIGN IDEAS, and post the most current information that I can find.
Palin expected at Simi GOP gala, group saysBy Michael R. Blood, AP political writer
Monday, July 13, 2009LOS ANGELES Former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is slated to appear at a Republican gala in Simi Valley next month as she moves to broaden her national influence after stepping down as Alaska governor.Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley said in a statement Sunday that Palin is scheduled to attend the groups 50th anniversary gala at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Aug. 8.
The disclosure came the same day that an interview published in The Washington Times revealed that Palin plans to write a book, build a right-of-center coalition and campaign for political candidates from coast to coast with even Democrats who share her views on limited government, national defense and energy independence.
The details were the first to emerge since the Alaska governor announced earlier this month that she plans to resign July 26, a decision that shocked even her closest friends. At that time, she expressed concern over being a lame-duck governor as well as criticism aimed at her and her family.
Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley spokeswoman Pat Saraceno said the invitation-only event will be closed to the media. Several hundred people have already confirmed they plan to attend the gala, which costs $100 for members and $150 for invited nonmembers.
The group expects no more than 900 people at the event, which will be held at the cavernous pavilion that houses the former presidents jet, Air Force One.
The master of ceremonies for the event will be conservative radio talk-show host and filmmaker John Ziegler.
Reagan library spokeswoman Melissa Giller said the group rented the facility and it was up to members to decide who would be invited.
Saraceno said Palin embodies the values that we hold dear: faith, family, country first and service.
We are honored to call her our friend and advocate, she said. She is an amazing human being whose aspirations are simply to bring out the best in people.
Saraceno said the womens group reached out to Palin through her office and invited her to the event in February.
We are not interested in making this a political event, but we would be honored if she could make an appearance, Saraceno said. There are some common threads. She has family roots in Southern California. Also, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is a lasting tribute to Reagan, and she is, in our minds, quite Reaganesque in her approach to policy.
Saraceno said the organization is not paying Palin for her appearance, but it will pay for her trip, dinner and accommodations.
The Alaska governors office did not respond to e-mail or phone messages.
The appearance at the library that enshrines the legacy of the nations 40th president is certain to stoke speculation about Palins political ambitions beyond Alaska.
Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who led the 2008 Republican presidential ticket, said on NBCs Meet the Press on Sunday that he is confident Palin will remain a major factor on the national scene even after she steps down as governor.
Earlier this year, Palin was offered a speaking role at an annual congressional fundraiser in Washington, which turned into a will-she-or-wont-she mystery about whether the Alaska governor would even appear. Organizers replaced Palin as the keynote speaker after she wavered over accepting the invitation, and Palin said she never confirmed that she would speak. The governor eventually appeared at the dinner but did not address the crowd.
Saraceno said she respected Palins right to change her plans at any time. She said in an e-mail that correspondence with the governors office has been positive but cautious, but she added, we know she will come.

Keep me in the loop because I will be as close as possible with a sign.
And, I might to some of this by FREEP-MAIL -- to keep our EXACT plans secret from DU-disruptors.
I understand this is a “By Invitation Only” event....can you confirm ?? Thanks
I understand this is a By Invitation Only event....can you confirm ?? ThanksYeah, I'm still working on THAT part.
Worst case, if we cannot get "invited" INSIDE, we will gather OUTSIDE.
It's CHEAPER that way, too!We won't get to SEE her that way, but we at least will be able to SUPPORT her.We can cheer her motorcade going in -- and get her some good MEDIA COVERAGE -- since they will apparently excluded inside, too...
...and then stop off a a local restaurant for OUR dinner...
...and still be back to cheer her when she leaves!
Thanks, Rondog.....but if you can get a few “Freeper Only” tickets allocated count me in.....I’d be coming in from the east coast and sure would like to meet her after making that trip( just like all of us, I’m sure)......my freeper buddy Al B is also working on it......keep us posted.
I read somewhere today that the capacity of the pavilion is 900 and there is a "long waiting list". Those folks at the Simi Valley Republican Women Federated are probably overwhelmed...LOL.
I read somewhere today that the capacity of the pavilion is 900 and there is a "long waiting list".From www.reaganlibrary.com:
The following number of event attendees can be accommodated inside the Air Force One Pavilion:There also appear to be three OTHER large meeting areas at the Reagan Library, that could each potentially hold about one thousand people -- the Courtyard, the Peace Plaza and the Ruwe Terrace -- in their "reception" configurations.
Theater Seating: 1,500
Dinner Seating: 1,400
Reception 1,600
But that's about it. Even assuming that they are not already rented out to someone else, they are NOT big enough, IMHO.
So, if all of the people who WANT to come are unable to make it to the Gala Dinner -- perhaps we can find ANOTHER venue, ideally somewhere close to the Reagan Library -- to support Governor Palin EARLIER in the day...
The DemoLoons will be out in farce as well.
If it weren’t for bad divorces, Obama would not be president....or Senator.
...perhaps we can find ANOTHER venue, ideally somewhere close to the Reagan Library -- to support Governor Palin EARLIER in the day...Earlier in the day than:
5:30 p.m. Cocktail Reception and Tours
6:30 p.m. Dinner
What venue is CLOSE -- and can hold 5,000 people -- or more?
Dodger Stadium or Staple Center or the Rose Bowl are TOO BIG for such short notice...
What about a local FOOTBAL STADIUM? What colleges, or local high schools are nearby?
L.A. Chapter, Sarah Palin at Reagan Library (8/8): Morning (AGAIN!) in America, "Tear Down this..."

The L.A. Chapter needs YOUR help with this FReep!
Sarah Palin is scheduled to be GUEST SPEAKER
in the Air Force One Pavilion of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum
SATURDAY, August 8
for a 50th Anniversary Gala of the the Simi Valley Republican Women Federated
As I posted to MayflowerMadam on the other thread:
The purpose of THIS THREAD is to solicit SIGN IDEAS and post the most current information about this event, as it becomes available.Ive sent emails to the Republican group as well for verification that this is actually happening, and have not had any response...I am fairly confident that it **is** going to happen. But the Simi Valley group was not expecting to get so much attention, having planned this event since LONG before Sarah Palin's recent surprise announcement -- so they are hunkering down, and are not quite sure WHAT to do now.
Since we believe that MANY people will want to support Sarah -- and for whatever reason (i.e., the high cost and/or availability of tickets) will not be able to go to the dinner -- the L.A. Chapter is working on a way to help them still support Sarah, ANY WAY that we can.For now, the plan is for us to gather along the road at the entrance to the Reagan Library -- with AMERICAN FLAGS, and positive signs -- to show our support.

I have contacted Simi Valley Women’s Federated. It is happening, August 8, but it is really a celebration of their 50th and not (especially) open to the public. Therefore, they have not publicized it. I think tickets are being sold to folks who are not members but who are coming with members.
We decided not to go.
Huh? I guess this is because the arrangements were made in Feb. But, from now on, I hope she starts charging big fees!
When I saw that Sarah Palin was going to be in Simi Valley I told my 13 year old daughter. She is an avid Sarah fan and now aspires to become the President of the United States.
We would love to attend the event, but the cost is a bit prohibitive for myself and my daughter. Although, she is gathering her birthday money to see how much she can pitch in for her ticket!
Will there be a reception after or book signing or other such event open to the public during her visit?
I’m seriously considering just purchasing the tickets. It would be a major life event for my daughter.
Glad I found this site while searching this event.
Sincerely,
Pamela
The LA chapter of FR is organizing for a rally outside the Reagan Library for those who won't be able to actually be inside the pavilion for the event. It looks like a day of fun. You might want to check this thread for details:
Sarah Palin at the Reagan Library (8/8): "The GIPPER 2.0" and details of the FREE rally
There may be some additional info on that thread as to ticket availability...not sure.
I haven't heard about any other public events in the LA area while the Governor is in the area, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is something. Because of the situation in Alaska, I doubt anything will be announced until after she leaves office on the 26th.
Good luck to you and you daughter in getting to see Sarah Palin.
I doubt anything will be announced until after she leaves office on the 26th.Bingo!
I think that this is why Governor Palin has not yet publically confirmed that she will be there.
Let's check back here on 7/27, and see if we were right! :o)
Im seriously considering just purchasing the tickets.I think that I may be able to get you an invitation to the Gala Dinner -- if you still want to go.It would be a major life event for my daughter.
If you FReep-mail me, we can talk about it.
Will there be a reception after or book signing or other such event open to the public during her visit? As you noted previously, there is currently NO GUARANTEE that Governor Palin will actually be at this Gala Dinner -- but I am confidant that she **will** be.
Rather than wait until the last minute (i.e., 7/27 -- see above), we have chosen to act NOW -- and start preparing for what to do with the people who decide NOT to attend the Gala Dinner, but who still want to support Sarah.
Currently, we plan THREE events:
REAGAN LIBRARY TOUR ($12/each, I think) -- from about 10 am to about 1 pmYou and your daughter (and any OTHER southern California Sarah Palin supporters) are welcome to join us for ALL THREE of these events, if you like -- or just the RALLY.PICNIC LUNCH (free, if you "bring your own") in the picnic area just inside the main entrance to the Library from about 1 pm to about 3 pm, and
RALLY TO SUPPORT SARAH (also free, but the exact location has not yet been determined) from about 3 pm to about 6 pm.
Those of us at the free Rally outside the Library may not get a chance to MEET, or even SEE her, even if she **is** there......but SHE (and the MEDIA) will know that we were there.
And thanks for the heads up......I don't know where you live and how far it is for you....but if at all possible what a great event to bring your daughter.
I wish I could go but coming from the east coast without a ticket is a bit of a risk.
But AL has given you good advice on the events that seem to be springing up around this event.
I wish you luck and hope to see more of you here on FR.
1 - Get the most positive MEDIA COVERAGE possible for Governor Palin, SVRWF and the Reagan Library,2 - Help the SARAH PALIN SUPPORTERS who cannot get into the event have the most memorable experience possible, and
3 - Minimize the damage that the ANTI-PALIN DISRUPTORS (if any) can do -- by keeping them as far away from the veune as possible, and countering THEIR appearance with OUR pro-Sarah supporters.
Palin NOT attending Event At Reagan LibraryNot sure what to think.
If true, it means that Governor Palin needs a MUCH better staff. If this wasn't going to happen, they needed to nip this in the bud WEEKS ago.
I will take the blame for PROMOTING this event, though.
Sorry, Sarah! All of the threads about it are tagged here:
