Sarah Palin Declares Her Independence
redstate.com ^ | Gary Jackson

Posted on 07/05/2009 4:55:05 PM PDT by curth

Once the hunted, Sarah Palin becomes the hunter.

Sarah stunned the world Friday by doing something that isn’t done. She is willfully giving up one of the most powerful positions a politician can aspire to. She is stepping down as Governor of one of the most important states in America.

The media elites were stunned. It was almost hilarious watching their reactions of disbelief. Their commentary was downright entertaining, and further proof that they don’t have a clue. Even those on Fox!

And the symbolism of doing this on the 4th of July holiday, the time we celebrate our nation’s birth, and our independence, was completely lost on the whole lot!

Almost universally, no one in the elite media got it. This is a huge comment on why our nation is in deep, deep trouble. One reporter on Fox, who has covered Sarah since she became Governor, went so far to say that her speech was “rambling”, and “incoherent.” Again, this just proves that even the media we most trust for news doesn’t a clue about real Americans.

Sarah Palin sounded just like us! We, the people, understood every single word she said. This is the reason she is wildly popular in the first place. She IS one of us!

Of course, just as universally silly as the commenters are, the pundits are even more clueless. And, evidently, devoid of any and all abilities of comprehension, be it for the written word, or spoken. We’ll get to the speech itself in due time, but suffice it to say, that for normal Americans, those who this speech was aimed at, this was a call to action.

Now the talking heads all agree that Sarah is done.

No chance of ever being anything again.

Alaska is beautiful, but it is not one of the most important states in the US. Sorry. I like it, like the people and the way of life, but for all the acreage, it’s not a powerhouse economically (bottom 10% GDP) or politically (3 electoral votes).

Yup.

I guess that if I could stand to deal with them, I could be a Media Consultant to the bobbleheads in the MSM and explain common sense to them.

Absolutely! We all know what she was saying and we all said “Yes Maam!”

“call to action” indeed.

Huh? They are right next door to Russia. Did you miss all the sarcastic “I can see Russia from my house” crap that Tina Fey bimbo started?

Important in Alaska being the ones running the Russian planes back to their own airspace?

Importance isn’t ALL about GDP or electoral votes for crying out loud.

I understand her reasons for stepping down, but not if she has presidential ambitions. One of her main selling points was her experience as Governor of Alaska. By leaving so early, one could say that she wasn’t getting much experience out of this position after all. If running the State was so important to Palin the candidate, then she should have stuck with it.

Also, very important from a natural resource POV.

As Matlin said Palin is the queen of energy, which is directly attributable to her Alaska roots and will become even more critical with time.

What would happen if she was hired by an energy company to get the natural gas pipeline done?

Would that give her the stature for another job? After that she might not be interested.

Time for Sarah to do a little “Community Organizing” of her own.

Her role in getting Exxon-Mobil to partner with TransCanada on that 1,715 mile NG pipeline was an enormous achievement. Everyone was saying that was a dead deal but she was able somehow in this tough environment to get private money to build it.

I don’t think there’s another elected official in America who has done as much to secure our future energy wise as Sarah. She has certainly displayed the ability to get things done.

And now she has that experience as governor. If Sarah believes she accomplished what she set out to do, how would another 18 months help? There are many candidates all around the country that can now benefit from Sarah appearing with them, campaigning and fundraising. Winning back the congress is much more important than those 18 lameduck months.

Absolutely! We all know what she was saying and we all said “Yes Maam!”

The author of this piece, Gary Jackson said it well:

Sarah has put her entire career on the line for America.

What are you willing to do?

This is what has struck me the most about what happened Friday. Sure, there were personal and practical reasons for her action, but she has seen the danger for America from the vipers currently in power and she's standing up for her country.

We all have to amswer this question for ourselves, "What am I willing to do?"

Evidently you aren’t getting what was going on in AK either, so here is my comment from another thread:
“There have been 15 ethics violation complaints (all bogus) that she has had to fight legally, it has cost AK taxpayers 2 million dollars so far, and she has personally over $500,000 dollars in legal bills...but donations are going in to help with that now. Palin said her governors office has spent 80% of their time in research and work, to contest those false accusations, but they finally won all of them. It has kept the business of governing AK hard to do. All of the cases Palin has now won, but it is time to step out of the line of fire as Gov, and instead of being on defensive get on the offensive. It has been too time consuming defending herself.

I believe this step is God ordained, so she can be the pit bull without their phony ethics violations. It doesn’t cost the dems a dime to file the crap. For example, when she was invited to speak outside of AK for something, one was filed that she was derelik in her duties as Gov by not being in AK.

“The best defense is a great offense”. For months Palin has been on defense trying to get all these ethics violations won....and now to prevent more false filings she has to step down. Alaska will have to continue to spend money to answer the complaints, and she will have to hire more lawyers if she doesn’t, and the dems will continue to keep her tied up, because they are afraid of her in 2010. As a private citizen she can go where she wants, and do speeches without bogus complaints to be defended as Gov. This is necessary, and not what she really wants...She could not govern due to the multiple filings by democrats against her that ate up 80% of her time and her staff’s time. Read her speech.

The Lt Gov is on same page as Palin where AK is concerned, so he can go forward unopposed by the legal problems the dems were using against her. There are things they want to accomplish in AK, and this was hampering them. She will be free to finish the book, and get income there, and be with children until 2010 election. She draws crowds like Zero, and can be the one to help conservatives take back Congress. If Congess isn’t taken back in 2010, it will do no good to run for President, as nothing could be accomplished if dems have a filibuster proof Senate.”
