Democrats Want to Set Up Prison Camps For Political Opposition
Washington Examiner/The Lid ^ | 7/10/09 | The Lid

Posted on 07/10/2009 1:09:49 PM PDT by Shellybenoit

Remember that Department of Homeland Security Report warning people to "watch out" for returning veterans as well as those who oppose government policy on guns, abortion, immigration, states' rights, etc.

Well hows this for scary? Florida Congressman Alcee Hasting put an amendment on the defense bill that would allow the White House categorize political opponents as hate groups, throw them in jail. It gets worse, Hastings is also sponsoring a bill that will build prison camps to house these political opponents.

Holy Cow, This is America:

All you do-gooder people in this country who think that no self-respecting American would allow this had better man-the-hell up and recognize. Liberals are evil and they want to enslave your body and mind according to their will. They crave power - especially power over those who don’t think like them

AKA Alcee Lamar Hastings

Born: 5-Sep-1936
Birthplace: Altamonte Springs, FL

Gender: Male
Religion: Methodist
Race or Ethnicity: Black
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Politician
Party Affiliation: Democratic

Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Congressman, Florida 23rd

First African-American judge appointed to Florida (appointed by Jimmy Carter to the Southern District of Florida in 1979), Hastings was impeached and removed from office in 1989 -- two counts, perjury and conspiracy to obstruct justice, one of only twelve judges in American history to be afforded this indignity. The basis of the two charges was his lying about the fixing of cases in his court. However, even after impeachment he is the first African-American to be elected to Congress from Florida since the Reconstruction, representing Dade and Broward Counties, and several others. He is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Let's not forget, that it was the liberal parton saint, FDR, who was behind the internment of Americans of Japanese decent during WWII.

Scratch a liberal, and just barely beneath the surface you'll find a stalinist.

There is a possibility of paranoia in this piece, but it certainly raises an issue worth keeping track of.

Yes, Hastings introduced a bill that basically lets Homeland security to use areas of certain military bases for essentially anything they want. Coupled with letting the AG define a domestic terrorist as anything he wants, then there are things to watch.

It is part of a pattern of “open” legislation that Congress is passing lately: TARP, Cap and Trade and now this all contain wide open provisions that give the government as much power as they want.

Under the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, Wilson's administration shut down newspapers and magazines at an astounding pace. Indeed, any criticism of the government, even in your own home, could earn you a prison sentence. One man was brought to trial for explaining in his own home why he didn't want to buy Liberty Bonds.

The Wilson administration sanctioned what could be called an American fascisti, the American Protective League. The APL – a quarter million strong at its height, with offices in 600 cities – carried government-issued badges while beating up dissidents and protesters and conducting warrantless searches and interrogations. Even after the war, Wilson refused to release the last of America's political prisoners, leaving it to subsequent Republican administrations to free the anti-war Socialist Eugene V. Debs and others.

You want a more 'progressive' America? Careful what you wish for. Voters should remember what happened under Woodrow Wilson.

It’s probably a majority-minority district, home to every Black Congressional Caucus member, all slightly to the left of Karl Marx (then again, so is B. Hussein).

If so, zero chance of a conservative winning, the only hope is that even his own voters get sick of him, like ‘Jihad Cindy’ McKinney, and he gets beaten in a primary by a less crazy (though still 98% socialist) Black dem.

Ok. Is it possible to find a Blue Dog Black Democrat who fits the Bill? It can't be impossible but your description of the area sounds like it would be a major challenge.

I wish Steele would pro-actively identify candidates and start lining them up but I don't receive any information from the RNC that there is any organized effort happening.

Wishful thinking..I guess.

Well said.
We need to start setting up a network now, because later will be too late. History is replete with reasons why.
People are deluded into thinking it's business as usual, more of the same.....it is not. These evil people are no different than the soviets or nazis, and the only thing holding them back right now from going further and faster is the speed of today's communications, and the armed citizenry that exists today. The revival of the fairness doctrine, by whatever name they give it, will eliminate the former, and by passing laws to make virtually everyone a felon, they will achieve the latter.
If it comes to armed insurrection, than so be it, because respect for the law only works when the law is respectable. They will try to use it as a yoke, and will succeed if America lets them. Unfortunately, most Americans today could name every member of their favorite sports team, or who the current fop on American idol is, but they cannot name their representatives, or supreme court justices. They slog along blissfully ignorant every day thinking their comfortable lives will never be changed, as if politics, like American Idol, is just a popularity contest with no repercussions.

They couldn't be more wrong, and sadly, they won't wake up until the store shelves are empty and a blade of grass looks as good as a pork chop.

Not me.

I see the fences going up, even if they don't. I'm taking steps to get mobile right now, and am looking into real-estate and jobs in Texas. I currently work in the IT field, and could find employment there, but I have other options. My first and true trade is machinist and toolmaker, with a fair amount of gunsmithing in there to boot, which means that even if they take away my guns, I can MAKE my OWN, and I pride myself on knowing that I can even smelt the iron, and make the furnace to do so, as well as make any part with almost nothing if I need to.

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. Ben Franklin
