Here is video of the speech Sen. Ted Kennedy made to try and rehabilitate himself following the death of Mary Jo Kopechne on Chappaquiddick Island after he drove her off a bridge in his car, leaving her to drown on July 19, 1969. Tomorrow will be 40 years since it happened. In this video, he says he finds his own behavior "indefensible" in waiting for hours to call authorities after getting out of the car himself, but leaving Kopechne in the car. Obviously, the entire speech was his attempt to indirectly defend himself. Below is a summary of "The Chappaquiddick Incident," as it came to be called, by Larry Sabato . . . (Watch Video)

Well, at least it kept Jabba the Nut out of the White House.
She more likely suffocated in the air pocket, which meant there was an even longer time Fat Ted could have brought help but didn't.
Good point, Karl.
For the youngsters in the audience who wonder how this all came about, you have to understand that the Kennedys were treated by the media like the Baraqqis are now BEFORE Jack was killed.
After Jack was killed, the Kennedys were treated like deity.
For the youngsters in the audience, read “Senatorial Privilege: The Chappaquiddick Cover-up” by Leo Damore.
I honestly believe that if the internet had existed at the time he would have gone to prison.
National Enquirer(yea, I know)is reporting that Ted visited Mary Jo’s grave last November.
I am not alone in imagining Teddy Kennedy caught up in a parody of an EC horror comic.
He’ll not be with us soon as his health is failing and he will meet his maker and his victim. His sentence will soon be starting...
Coward then. Coward now.
This display reinforces that the whole Kennedy clan are sewer trout.
God did not create h$ll for man, but some people truelly will to go there. This so called Senator will get there with one big headache.
A good friend of mine’s daughter worked as a Intern for old Teddy, I told him to give her swimming lessons. POS Ted, rot in hell.
....or hangover
The delay in notifying the authorities may have been that he was trying to get someone else to claim to have been the driver, but failed to do so.
He can make all the excuses he wants here on earth .....But one day there will be a final judgment.
