Can anyone help?
The medicine is called “ANALSIK” and is a combo drug of 2mg diazepam (valium) and 500 mg of methampyrone. I need to know what the last chemical is, what can I take along with it (B12, benadryl, antacids, etc), how often and in what dosage should I take with it, and how do I take it, along with food, empty stomach, milk, water, diet coke or tea, AND what are the side-effects?
I live overseas, next to a jungle and doctor care here is sparse. We (the ex-pats here) have to be pro-active in diagnosis and treatment. The good side is that we can get medicine much easier and less expensive than is available in the US. The downside is that we have to have a vast body of knowledge about medicine which is outside of our training.
Sunday I have an extremely debilitating headache and, oddly enough, I was out of the standard analgesic. So, my husband goes to the drugstore, describes the situation and asks if they had anything to treat me. They give him the drug listed above, but no other information AT ALL. So, we began the research when he got home. We found it should be taken 3 times a day with meals, but that methampyrone has dangerous side-effects and should be taken "only as a drug of last resort."
This left us with a lot of questions. I haven't used the drug yet. My husband went back to the drugstore and got some ibuprofen. It helped but I still have the headache.

Looks like a combo anti-inflammatory/anti-pyretic (fever reducer). I'd be more concerned about the valium, but I would assume that if they've combined them into a pill, there's no interaction issues.
It seems to be a combo drug that does a lot of stuff. Take it carefully, see how it goes.

You mean it’s a pill? I thought it was a suppository.
My first guess would be that you don’t take it orally.....

Good idea to learn as much as possible, as you are doing, for all this stuff. An informed patient is a capable partner in all health-care decisions.
I took a look at the manufacturer’s website. Their ambitions are kinda scary....”do whatever it takes to be #1”. That’s it in a nutshell as I read it.

Y’all are correct; the meds to me look strange for headaches. At only 2mg of valium, I’m not too worried. That’s the minimum dose. In the past valium has never helped with headache pain.

Contents Methampyrone 500 mg, diazepam 2 mg
Indications Headache esp of psychic origin, neuralgia, lumbago, rheumatism, biliary & renal colic, muscle & joint pains.
Dosage Adult 1 caplet 3 times daily. Childn ½ adult dose.
Administration Should be taken with food (Take after meals.).
Contraindications Severe psychoses, bleeding tendencies, porphyria, hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives.
Special Precautions Elderly, epileptics; CV, hepatic or renal disease, resp depression, myasthenia gravis, cross-reactivity w/ aspirin.

MIMS Class Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
ATC Classification N02BB72 - Metamizole sodium, combinations with psycholeptics ; Belongs to the class of pyrazolone preparations. Used to relieve pain and fever.
I don't see anything there that would contraindicate it for me in my condition. I wonder if my 100mg of doxycycline per day is a problem? Just thinking out loud here.
In 1977, dipyrone was removed from the U.S. market due to serious adverse effects including agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, and hemolytic anemiaDipyrone is another name for the drug and it sounds like a good med to avoid.
