CNN’s Campbell Brown Disses Fox and MSNBC

In an interview last week with Julie Menin CNN anchor Campbell Brown said that the network is the only one doing journalism when compared to Fox and MSNBC.

CNN's Campbell Brown sat down late last week with Julie Menin. And right out of the gate, Brown explained what sets CNN apart from its competitors. "CNN is the only one who's still doing journalism," said Brown, anchor of CNN's 8pmET program. "I don't mean that as a criticism of what the other guys are doing, it's just...we're comparing apples and oranges. Fox has made a choice to go in one direction, MSNBC has made a choice to go in the other direction."

Newsbabe Campbell Brown is partially correct. Compared with “the chills go up my leg” Obama network MSNBC, CNN is light-years better. Now compared to FOX, (taking away all the pundit shows like Hannity, Oriely, Beck, etc), and just focusing on the quality of the top of the hour news, CNN and Fox are about equal, with FOX slightly better. But if you have a week of some celebrity news like the Michael Jackson's death, then FOX slips to 2nd place pretty fast.

Got to pursue that celebrity”news”. Slipping to 2nd on that basis is a badge of honor.
