Why Obama? Why would you piss off the Israelis so much? They are our ONLY ally in the middle east! Not to mention the only free nation in the middle east. Why Obama has so much Islam-love, I have no clue.

Since its creation, Israel has been one of America’s greatest allies and visa-versa.

We didn't become really allies before the Six day war 1967... and it really got steam just after the Yom-Kippur war.

For the first 20 years, Israels chief military ally was France.

The US had no problem pressuring Israel, France and Britain to get out of Egypt in 1956 and probably saved Nasser's butt...

And there is that USS Liberty thing... whether accident or intentional (I'll presume for argument's sake that it was mistake by Israel.)

The point: US-Israeli interest convergences have increased over time... but there is a lot of revisionist romanticizing of our relationship.

Israel will have to learn to get along without US aid somehow. I don't see how, but I'm not convinced they can't do it.

No matter what the policy, pretty soon we won't have the money anyway.
