Dear Freepers, Oppose Obama on the issues, not his alleged legitimacy (he really is legit)
Aug 5, 2009

Posted on 08/05/2009 6:40:35 AM PDT by Edward Watson

In my personal opinion, Obama is a disaster for America. I believe future historians will describe this period as the OBAMA CATASTROPHE - the time when America collectively lost its mind and voted for a man and a group of leftists who quickly destroyed the nation in favor of socialism and income redistribution.

However, if people want to save the American nation and way of life - the best and most benevolent society in human history; opposition must be passionate and RATIONAL. The entire legitimacy or birther issue is indeed passionate but definitely not rational.

It has been frustrating to see my fellow-Freepers waste so much time and effort arguing that Obama isn't a legitimate president. He is and no amount of wishful thinking to the contrary will change that fact.

Salon has a great article addressing all the issues of the matter (see sourced website above).

What has become of us? I know some conservatives tend to lean towards mindless conspiracy theories but this is getting ridiculous.

Free Republic is a forum where conservative issues are discussed, hopefully rationally but always passionately. I remember when we all laughed at the conspiracy theories emanating from the liberals and leftists (i.e., 9-11 was an inside job) and now the same type of lunacy has infected this forum.

Time to stop the birther distraction and focus on the real issue of saving the Republic.

"There is no conspiracy. Focusing on the issues and requiring transparency are not mutually exclusive. Not asking questions would be irrational. Not upholding the Constitution would be irrational. Giving in to fear and intimidation would be rational. Relying on a Salon set of talking points would be irrational. Not holding politicians accountable would be irrational."

Perfect and worth repeating!

Sorry, Eddie, but I'm with the gentleman from Missouri: "show me." Obamasquid is jetting out too much ink in the water for this to go away just in your say-so. Something is wrong here and absent a free and independent press, the grassroots needs to demand action. Perhaps he is legitimately Constitutionally qualified but no one seems to be able to competently prove that. If that doesn't trouble you, you should be concerned.

“The entire legitimacy or birther issue is indeed passionate but definitely not rational.”

While I agree that certain “ideas” put forward are rather incredible, I don’t think you really grasp what this is all about to the majority of us. I “think” I speak for many when I say that I just want President Obama to completely and fully reveal all records from his past....starting with the real and full BC. All the different routes taken to get this to happen (the potentially bogus Keyan BC) are just means to an end.

You are just a plain fool if you see the desire for full disclosure to be irrational. Actually, those of you (to include Ann Coulter) that waste your time trying to stop such legitimate inquiries are not acting “rational” because you don’t grasp the reality of how things appear and are.

Also, you don’t seem to understand that anything that undermines the credibility of the Obama administration (even if it is just an persistent annoyance) derails his, IMO, socialist agenda. You worry about how the public perceives us.....Duh! When has the MSM ever not tryed to make us look bad to the public?

Was Barrack Hussein Obama born in Kenya? I seriously doubt it; it doesn’t hurt to inquire though. Is he hiding something politically damaging in his Hawaiian BC and college records? Yes, I strongly believe he is; “what” I do not know nor will speculate. I WANT TO SEE THOSE RECORDS MADE PUBLIC. If this means some things happening that are not “rational”, then so be it.

Besides, I am one of those that hold to an originalist view of the constitution. I am fully convinced that President Obama being born the son of a Kenyan father negates his “natural born” status that is required in the U.S. Constitution. IF the courts were acting properly, he would NOT be sitting in the Oval Office today. He is a U.S. Citizen, but not a “natural born” one.

IF the American people don’t care about the “natural born” cause in the Constitution, they need to ammend the Constitution not ignore it.

Whatever, you are behaving irrationally to keep attempting to convince persons otherwise. You have your opinion, I have mine.

Who says Obama’s legit.I have seen NO Official birth certificate issued by any State in the Union. All I have seen are forgeries and such.

I also want to know why Obama’s concealing his entire history at great expense. We the public have the Right to know who is leading our country be it for good or I'll.It's espescially important when our leadership has shown a propensity to harm our country and it's institutions.

From your own page:

“Lastly, I’m a Mormon and proud father to five very handsome sons.”

Explains all to me. Anyone that believes the total nonsense that Joseph Smith (the 19th Century L. Ron Hubbard) foisted on dimwitted people has NO BUSINESS telling anyone to stop acting in ways that are not “rational.” Mormonism is the most “irrational” and dangerous, from an eternal view of things, perversion of Christianity ever. It is “chocolat covered poison.”

You have a hidden agenda called “Mitt Romney.” Ain’t gonna happen sport!

You, sir, are painting with far too broad a brush. I am also LDS and have five children...yet I see the value in pursuinig the BC issue on a contstitutional basis, and I support Sarah Palin hands down.

You are allowing your own animosities and bias to taint your expression. I would be grateful if you would withdraw your comments about LDS people not being able to be rational.

This poster posted his opinion...he did not attack anyone's personal faith while so doing, nor did he even raise the issue on this thread. I strongly disagree with him on this issue, and I also strongly disagree with your broad brush, scatter gun attacks on my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ...and that is who I place my faith in.

I will leave that statement to stand on its own...it is a direct and honest statement. It is not my desire or intent to get into a theological debate with you, nor will I. That is not what this thread is about, nor was it about that until you interjected it.

I am not attacking your Christian faith, and in fact, I am sincerely glad and grateful that you have that faith and express it. Please allow me the same. My faith is between me and my Savior, Jesus Christ, and He will be the judge in the end.

Soetoro has not one, not two, but a staggering THREE proven foreign citizenships which makes it flat-out impossible for him to be a natural born citizen of the US. Your assertion that he’s eligible is delusional. Citizens of other countries can’t legally be POTUS. Why do you have such hatred for the Constitution and why do you embrace the Obot lunatic fringe belief that every person on this planet is a natural born citizen of the US?

I’m capable of doing both. It’s called multi-tasking.

Exactly. How does my demand that he produce his documentation preclude my opposition to his Socialist lies?

Thats too hard man. It is easier to just fight him on this. Just keep talking about the issue. Over and over. When we get ridiculed just repeat it LOUDER and LOUDER. When people say we look out touch get a Russian Dentist Lawyer to show the .jpeg of truth. Just keep being in denial about the fact Barack Obama is the president (and he’s half black).

Otherwise we would have to form a serious ideological opposition. Act on policy matters and research issues. This site was great before remember immigration? We read through that sucker in teams and called the numbers and got really mad at that picture of them laugh at us the citizens! Remember memogate? We got Dan Rather good. These were good things, but they have given people here a sense that anything is possible. People here really believe Internet investigations will unseat the president. It isn’t going to stop.

Hopefully we can channel the passion into action in 2010 boost up numbers in both House and Senate keep flipping Blue-Dogs when we can on issues and maybe the RNC will find its spine. In the mean time let these birther people here vent emotions. They love W then he screws them with a bailout. They love Palin but shes lost and out of power right now. They really really hate Obama. Can’t fight the emotions just got to ride them out.

I agree. People are letting their emotions drive them to hold Obama to standards that no other President or candidate has been.

Passion and opinion aside, aren't you the least bit curious about Obama's and his supporters' extraordinary efforts to hide his past?

It is this lack of interest and curiosity that astounds me -- particularly among many conservative talk show hosts who appear to be frightened beyond words to even consider the matter; either by belittling -- and in Medved's case outright condemning -- those of us who simply want an answer to a very straightforward question: Does Barack Hussein Obama meet the Constitutional requirements to serve as President?

Have you concluded that we cannot pursue this matter concurrent with our efforts to stop Obama's socialist agenda? If so, I disagree. We can do both.
