Upon being alerted that the people were suffering due to widespread bread shortages, she is said to have replied, "Then let them eat brioche" (not really cake but more of an egg bread).This type of callousness on the part of the monarchy has often been referred to in writings about the possible factors that led to the French Revolution
The arrogance of the elitist progressive liberals in the Democratic party is astounding. They just can’t believe America would reject the Obamacare version of health car. That's why these elitist progressive liberals are now saying that it is right wing fanatics, or the special interest insurance companies that are fighting the "brilliance" of their plan. Or as Senator Specter said yesterday, these are not mainstream Americans.
That is the basis of the Democrat's arrogance, and why the progressives in the party are about to lose many of the congressional seats the now hold. These are real Americans with real concerns going to the town hall meetings opposing this.
To some extent the Protests are no longer totally about health care, its also about people being disenfranchised by their representatives because of the deafness of congress to their concerns.

Although it is traditionally attributed to Queen Marie Antoinette of France from 1789, it is now doubted that she actually said it, as it is also attributed to the earlier Queen, Marie-Thérèse - about 100 years earlier in a different crisis. And it appears that what she actually said was “let them eat pastry”. In 1766, Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote that he was quoting the famous saying of “a great princess”, which was incorrectly attributed to Marie Antoinette. She couldn’t have made the statement because, in 1766, she was only 11 years old.

The results of the French Revolution were not like the American Revolution
The arrogant arristocrats were removed in both, but responsible people prevailed in the U.S. unlike France.
And tar and feathers. An old American recipe.
History tells us all too clearly of the nature of the road these monsters follow; the signposts to its final destination are written in blood.
History also tells us what we must do to rid ourselves of these monsters. And now, Mr. Peikoff:
The American people may oppose the nation’s present course, but by themselves the people cannot change it. By its nature, changing the course of a nation is a task that can be achieved only by men who deal with the field of ideas. In the long run the people of a country have no alternative: they end up following the lead of the intellectuals.
The intellectuals cannot escape ideas, either. They may become anti-ideological skeptics, who offer the country for guidance only subjective feelings and short-range pragmatism but it is the ideas – ultimately, the basic ideas – they still accept, explicitly or otherwise, which determine the content of their feelings and of their pragmatism.
In the long run, intellectuals, too, have no alternative: they end up following the lead of the philosophers.
If there is no new philosophy to guide and rally the better men among them, the intellectuals will follow one that is old and bankrupt. If there are no living ideas, they will follow dying ones and take the country with them…
In the absence of any principled opposition, the Kantian ideas by default will continue to rule, and to move us further down the road on which, for so many years, we have been traveling.

A new revolution is taking place in America and all across the land. The target is liberal politicians and RINO republicans. They are all not going to be re-elected especially if they vote for Obamacare, cap and trade and the other debacle and fiasco bills being forced through without legitimate debate or even the necessity for politicians to actually read the bills their aides draft. This is no longer a representative government but in fact a dictatorship and Americans are not going to stand for it anymore and are massing to take their country back from these traitors.
I love it. I never once believed that Americans are so weak that we just roll over when a nerve is hit. This is why I believe that if the Germans had been like us, they would have never allowed the Holocaust to happen.
