Healthcare Reform + Estate Tax = A Reduction in the Deficit??
My brain

Posted on 08/22/2009 12:12:17 PM PDT by lrmac

I am sure that there is no way that I could possibly be the only person who thinks this. Perhaps I have just never heard this mentioned in the news anywhere, but does anyone else feel that the current health care reform bill is in some way a catalyst for the estate tax, or vice versus?

I saw on the O'Reilly the other day how Dennis Miller ridiculed certain townhall protestors for comparing Obama to Hitler. Obama has in no way committed such blatant evils against mankind like Hitler did. A better comparison for Obama would be Stalin....I may not be exceptionally boned up on my history but as I recall, instead of murdering his people in concentration camps, Stalin starved them to death, and in doing so, he managed to kill more innocent people than Hitler. (If I am wrong about this please correct me and I will revert back to comparing Obama to Hitler)

Watching that made the wheels in my head start turning, and I thought, "What will the death rate be in this country when the sick and elderly are essentially "starved" of adequate healthcare?" Will there be more deaths associated to illness than before? Well of course!

Then my wheels started going into overdrive when I thought about the rise in the estate tax that is coming within the next 18 months+/-. Hmmm....when Obama is elected he starts by immediately putting our country into an unreasonably high amount of debt, repealing a bill that would abolish an already unfair estate tax (which, by the way, was originally part of the "Communist Manifesto"), and now implementing a healthcare system that could potentially end the lives of countless senior citizens by refusing them adequate health coverage....Maybe Obama has a plan to get this country out of debt afterall(insert sarcastic font here). A sick, demented, all around idiotic plan, but a plan nonetheless.

Take more of the people's money while they are alive limiting what they can save into their estates, take away their ability to provide themselves with good healthcare leading to their deaths, and finally taking 55% of the estates that they worked so hard to save for their children, after they die.

I may be out in left with my theory on this, but that still doesn't change the fact that each and every one of these atrocities is wrong on so many levels....whether they are connected or not, we need to stand up and stop this socialist animal from ruining the American dream for all of us! Getting off of my soap box now. Thanks!

Any thoughts on this or am letting all of these things just scare me into insanity?

Makes sense to me.

DH and were thinking along those same lines. Probably Obama & Co. want to let seniors wither up and die, then confiscate all of their estates.

Scary and sad.

the estate tax laws are set to expire after this year. The exemption for this year is $3.5 million.

You’re definitely on to something, but of course, some of that wealth disappeared with the “economic down turn”.

http://www.insurancejournal.com/magazines/west/2004/02/23/features/37126.htm

Baby Boomer Wealth Transfer

Today’s planners sit on the leading edge of what is expected to be the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of America. The economic boom of the 1990s created an unprecedented amount of personal wealth in America—currently estimated at more than $33 trillion. At the same time, today’s retirees constitute one of the wealthiest segments of the U.S. population with more personal wealth than any previous generation.

Economists believe that bequests of this wealth will significantly boost the resources of the 76 million Baby Boomers. That means by the year 2052, an estimated $40.6 trillion will change hands as Baby Boomers and their parents pass on their accumulated assets to their heirs.

It isn’t just the estate tax or death tax, but medicare, medicaid and social security are all bankrupt, the government will save billions and make money at the same time by just denying health care to those who need it.

You are right, you do need to study history. Ever hear the term "Gulag"? Stalin put millions into camps as well. Start with "A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" by Solzhenitsyn. Or to REALLY get a good idea the "Gulag Archipelago".

Exactly what I was wondering. Government access to savings/checking accounts, government rationing of healthcare especially to the elderly, both at a time when there will be the largest transfer of wealth between generations ever, and who will be the beneficiary the government and it’s minions with out stretched palms or the lawful heirs? I’m all for charity but if a person works hard, scrimps and saves their life savings should go to whoever they designate and not be, for lack of a better word, “stolen” by the government. (Somedays I just can’t find the word I know is located somewhere in the chaos of my mind.)

Yeah, if I were sick old person, I’d hate to have my family have to decide if I should hang on past the new year, it might cloud their judgment a wee bit.... (;-)

I agree with what you wrote: “It isn’t just the estate tax or death tax, but medicare, medicaid and social security are all bankrupt, the government will save billions and make money at the same time by just denying health care to those who need it.” And I want to add, it is pretty frightening to think they are trying to get away with it such a dastardly deed.

Exactly, Hitler and the Nazi committed horrifying atrocities and murdered millions. You think that’s has to be the absolute worse and yet just as horrifying to think of is the hundreds of millions of actrocities and murders committed all for the cause of communism by those who followed powerful, if not charismatic leaders such as Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and others. Once someone learns facts like these you would think they would realize how fragile their freedom and liberty are.

I’ll be sure to read that, but am I inaccurate in stating that Stalin starved his people? I hope my memory of history isn’t fading THAT fast....:)

No he starved millions as well during the collectivization of the farms. Mainly in Ukraine and in the Volga and Don region peopled by Cossacks. A documentary on this Harvest of Despair is on Youtube (this points to the first section.
