Secessionist movement under way in Texas

Fiercely independent and thoroughly horrified at the blatantly unconstitutional explosion of federal tyranny into every aspect of our lives, Texans are set to march on the state capitol in droves on Saturday. They will be delivering a million-strong petition to their elected officials based on the 10th Amendment, demanding an immediate constitutional confrontation with Washington.

If they are turned away or their concerns inadequately addressed, organizer Gerry Donaldson says they "will be forced to call for a vote for secession." This will not be the last time a state openly defies Obama's treasonous war on the Constitution.

Donaldson, who runs his own Internet radio show, says they are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution." He continued, "Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

Starting a civil war should be a last resort. I believe secession would lead to that and I do not relish the idea of Americans killing one another. Let’s not destroy this great nation. Obama’s popularity is constantly decreasing. That means there is time and room to save the country in the right way.

"OK, I’ll take the hat, but I draw the line at those big silly belt buckles."

My main belt buckle is not too big, and it looks like this:

And, here in God's Country, you damshore better not call that "silly"... :-|

Only if we wish to stay in the Union. If we don’t want to stay, well... Here’s Article 1, Section 2, Texas Constitution:

Sec. 2. INHERENT POLITICAL POWER; REPUBLICAN FORM OF GOVERNMENT. All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.

On top of which, the right of secession far predates the formation of Texas. In fact, it predates the United States.

Property taxes are high because there is no personal income tax. You can stay in Cali and keep paying state income tax if you wish. Makes no mind to me. Just don’t move here and then vote for an income tax or we may just have to shoot you.

Even if Obama was impeached, the mindless welfare masses will only elect another. Remember, they’ve voted the same way three elections running.

Also, secession does not have to be violent. I refer you to the breakup of Czechoslovakia, which was a wholly peaceful separation.

Texas already has a flag and I doubt real Texans want to serve under that one.

They did serve under the flag of the confederate states of america during the civil war.

Of course, this Native Texan refuses to do the “hat indoors” bit. My Mama and Daddy — and the USAF — taught me better...

I won’t have to wear one of those big funny cowboy hats, will I?

Headgear is a wise choice during the summer months but, don't worry, there are alternatives to Cowboy hats. Like Dallas Cowboy caps. Or Texas Longhorn caps. Or Texas Aggie caps. Or...

On top of which, last time the North had all the industry, all the wealth, and all the manpower.

If it comes down to it, let’s see, shall we?

Texas has all the industry - the opposition has none.
Texas has all the remaining wealth - the opposition has none.
Texas makes many, many guns and nuclear weapons - the opposition makes less and none, respectively.
Texas has lots of willing and eager manpower - the opposition has little manpower willing to fight a country that simply wishes to leave.

I like our odds.

Also, right before the end of the last Civil War, the only one of the Confederate States that hadn’t been overrun was Texas. The Union came to Texas and did not enjoy their reception.

Real Texans already do serve that flag. See the Texas State Guard - which is separate from the National Guard and is *not* subject to Federal control!

Oh, come on. We wouldn’t shoot him.

Bullets cost money. Ropes are reusable and we have lots of that. :D

How about Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana seceeding together?

Personally, I don't want that. Texas can leave on their own in ways they can't do if others pile on. You guys can leave later but if you try to attach yourself to Texas' secession, you'll invite a military response from the Feds. Let us go first and, maybe later, you can join us.

Besides, we don’t want Louisiana to join us - too many crooks and liberals there. Let Jindal and others clean house there, then we’ll consider it.

The dissolution of the United States would be a failure and tragedy of historic proportions.

The idea is ludicrous in the face of the fact that conservatives outnumber liberals in this country by a large margin.

Why not just build a political party and movement that actually represents the rightful rulers of this country instead of committing national political and physical suicide?

Strong men will answer the call again, just as they did in 1861.

My GGF served under that flag in the 11th Texas Infantry Regiment CSA and I would proudly serve under it as well.
My family has been in Texas since 1852, so I guess that makes me a “real Texan”.

Because right now too many people are sucking off the government teat and vote for more no matter what. A new political party cannot and will not succeed; also, after 200 years, the big flaws in the US Constitution have become glaring and there’s no way anyone can fix them (properly) before liberty is lost to the statists for an unknown length of time.
