Obamacare rumors (VANITY)
Vanity | 9/5/09 | Erkyl

I heard a rumor from a friend tonight who said there was a group of Drs. in Dallas who recently sat down with Rep. Pete Sessions in a private 'town hall'. Apparently Pete Sessions says that Pelosi has been in Washington this whole time re-writing the health care bill, that Republicans don't have the votes to stop it in the house (nor do they have the votes to stop it in the Senate) and they are going to ram this thing through in the middle of the night.

Anyone heard anything on any of these rumors?

The vote will be close in the House and won’t be “in the middle of the night”. Wait til you see how many show up in Wash. DC Sept 12th.... This aint over til the fat girl sings.

If in fact they skulk about in the dead of night and shove this bill through, there ought to be an outcry unlike no other from ordinary citizens. Every single elected official who supported such a move should be recalled, nevermind waiting for 2010. This is not representation, this would be tyranny.

It all depends if they rats are willing to commit political suicide to get obamacare passed over the objections of the public.

Makes sense to me, in that I don’t think Obama would be supposedly proposing a bill unless he had the votes for it already lined up.

But then common sense would dictate that Obama wouldn’t hire Van Jones, who turned out to be a political time bomb and ended up forced to resign already. It’s not like his past was hidden!

They did exactly that with the bailout-stimulus, and they’d have already done it with the health bill a month ago if they had the support from their own side to do it.

They didn’t, which is why they subjected themselves to the whole “town hall” mess. They didn’t do it to convince us, they did it trying to convince their own people.

I don’t think their own are on board yet. If they were, they’d pass this thing so fast our heads will spin. They’d pass it and finish writing it later. If they had the support from their own side. Thats the problem. They are blaming us, but its lack of support on their side that is the hold-up.

I would go for something more than simply “recalling” them... isn’t there a State Motto that says: Thus Always to Tyrants?

The 2nd Amendment makes its presence felt should any of this happen.

Nah, look at all the commies, including himself, that Obama’s got hidden in plain sight. Whenever he gets called on something, with the press giving him faulty ‘coverage’—it’s the exception rather than the rule!

An NBC pollster told Chris Matthews that “several ‘swing Democrats’ are planning not to attend the speech [Obama’s speech to Congress] because they don’t want to be seen in the chamber during the speech.”

I've been reading stories that the WH is now drafting its own healthcare proposal. I hadn't heard any stories about Pelosi working, more or less, on her own bill. I think there are are enough Dem votes in the House to pass the bill; the Senate is a little more iffy -- although I think the Senate bill will go to a straight up-and-down vote. I've also read some reports saying that the WH and Dem reps are psyched by the fact that despite all the town hall confrontations, national polls still show a majority of Americans want a public option.

Word of caution: almost none of my predictions come true.

Obama has said that he *will* fix health care this year, pretty much come hell or high water. Pelosi & Co of course say that they *will* have a path to full government takeover in the final bill. Charlie Rangel thinks he *will* give the IRS more power through this bill. Some congressional idiot thinks the bill *will* empower the government to demand and disseminate any and all heretofore private information. And so on.

The seminal problem is that the “health care” (insurance?) bill is intended to destroy the rule of law under which we once lived, and fully replace it with the rule of a few men. [Note: men, not people; no women ever achieved positions of power in the Soviet Union.] So the really bad news is that destroying our laws is destroying our present government. The only good news is that it will be hard, but simple to destroy the unwelcome new government.

B.S.

Pelosi re-writing the bill? What, by herself? Laughable. Like she understands half the words in the 1000+ bill(s).

OF COURSE, the GOP doesn't have the votes! Hello! They are in the minority. Geez.

So the House is going to ram through a bill that the Senate won't pass? This would be political suicide for almost every democrat in the House. And for what? For a bill that will never become law?

And why would Pelosi be doing this, when the democrats have said to Obama "PLEASE HELP AND GIVE US A BILL!"

Nope, not even close.

I would totally believe this but don’t kid yourself....Medicare is already implementing these ideas—they have a captive audience.

Does this "Recall" thingy involve tar and feathers?
