AP fact-checks the speech: Obama was pretty much lying through his teeth

By my count, they fact-check 7 of his statements last night and find that he was lying or obfuscating on 5 of them, which means he was telling the truth 28% of the time.

He said, “not one federal dollar will be used to pay for abortions.” I took this to mean that he will mandate that health insurers provide them as a standard part of coverage.

He said, “we will not take one dollar from the Medicare trust fund,”, which does NOT mean the same thing as “we will not cut Medicare benefits”.

He lies every time he opens his mouth.

The other big lie is you can keep your current health insurance. What Obama leaves out is that if your current coverage changes in any way including adding benefits you are forced to the government plan and if you change jobs you must go to the government plan even if your new employer offers a good group plan. The new requirements from the government for private insurance plans and employers sponsoring them and taxpayer subsidies for the government plan will force many private plans into oblivion leaving you have no choice but the government plan. Obama himself has said that the idea is to transition to a single government health plan over time.

When Obama says you will have a choice for your health care plan he means a Hobson's choice.

saw about 30 seconds of the speech as I was channel surfing to the US Open tennis and heard the sob story about a mean old insurance company making someone die of cancer cause they didn't put acne on their form and the cancer DOUBLED in size and just crushed her with it's weight... not to mention the cancer itself...

Cause doncha know , you're either for health care by the socialists or you're for CANCER and KILLING AMERICANS... cause no americans would die if they had health care reform.

Illegals get free healthcare now by going to emergency rooms for everything. The cost of this gets shared by the other customers or by taxpayers. We're paying for it in some way or another, whether it's through the new program or through existing programs.

They aren't about to deny illegals medical care and we're going to foot the bill.
