Sorry but taking off on an old thread from 2001. My 17 year old is a senior and going off to college next september. We live in the Rio Grande Valley Texas and we are visiting Hillsdale College in Southern Michigan in 2 weeks. Does anyone have any other Suggestions for a conservative College? Thanks in advance.
I’ve heard good things about Grove City College in Grove City, PA
Patrick Henry College in Virginia... William Jessup in Sacramento...
Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA
ML/NJ
Two other small colleges to consider are Wheaton College in Illinois, and Grove City College in Pennsylvania. A larger university to consider is Brigham Young (but understand that it’s Mormon) in Utah.
University of Dallas
TX A&M
Air Force Academy
Naval Academy
American Military University, Manassas Virginia, also has Online courses, LOTS of them!
My oldest daughter is a junior at the U of Dallas, I highly recommend it. excellent academics, a wonderful Rome program and conservative, as well as authentically Catholic.
My wife and I have worked at 3 very different public universities. The land grant ones tend to be slightly more conservative, but that can change as the administration changes (our current one is fast moving to the left).
Stay away from liberal arts colleges in general.
David Lipscomb Nashville.
I think ACU closer to you is fairly conservative as is University of Dallas.
But forget all that....go to Ole Miss for the girls
or SMU...get a rich girl whose daddy will adopt you...and she will likely be hot too
I have heard that Indiana Wesleyan (sp?) - believe it’s in Marion, Indiana - is one of the most conservative in the nation as well.
I’ve actually heard good things about George Wyeth College in Utah — but I can’t recommend them as I’ve not done much research into their program or beliefs.
My top 4:
Patrick Henry College, VA
Hillsdale College, MI
Grove City College, PA
Liberty University, VA
LaTournaeu (sp?) Longview, TX
MMMMMM The South(BBQ and GOOD Comfort Food)!
VMI, Lexington VA
Have trip planned for Oct 8th weekend there already.
I went to Grove City - it’s a great school. The professors are knowledgeable and accessible, and the students are a cut above in thoughtfulness and good citizenship. (Well, for the most part. I suppose there were a couple bad apples in both categories.)
I’d definitely recommend checking it out. Grove City was my parents’ choice, not mine, when I was 17 (I thought I wanted to go to a “big name” school) but once I visited and spent some time on campus, I knew that was where I wanted to be.
The conservative or semi-conservative universities that I know about are University of Dallas, Texas A&M, and BYU. I’m thinking Baylor is somewhat conservative too.
Patrick Henry in Virginia
University of Delaware is pretty much politics neutral.
Good Business, Econ and Engineering Departments, Great Chemistry Dept. small - around 18,000 under grads on one campus.
plenty of conservative/christian clubs and orgs. also plenty of the other types.
Your student’s experiance will be as conservative as he or she makes it.
Oral Roberts University in Tulsa is worth a look
